Great character of the game, although he was one hell of a diver tbh. But I liked him.
Not sure if he was considered by City fans to be better than Colin Bell or Rodney Marsh though
RIP Never saw him play but he has always been spoken about in high regards. Sounded like a proper club legend .
Never saw him play, just a little before I started to go to Maine Rd but he’s fondly remembered by those who did and is seen in the same light as Colin Bell & Summerbee
We do seem to have lost as awful lot of older players over the last year or so

One of the greatest myths in football but I'm sure that'll be discussed in the coming days.
RIP Franny.

He wasn’t by most. RIP though Franny. Remembered mostly for his penalty taking method of just putting your laces through the ball.
And of course the Match of the Day fight with Norman Hunter, which Franny won.
What do you mean Franny Lee never dived. Here's all the evidence you need.

Seriously. I can't believe he's died. Proper footballer from the proper days of football, where United and City rivalry was an actual thing. Best, Charlton Law. Summerbee, Lee, Bell.
Cheers mate. RIP Franny.
Collin Bell for sure. Never heard many City fans put Marsh ahead of him though.
Sad all the same.
Sad news.
Football needs it's characters and rivalries and he was both.
The older we get the more often we see our heroes die sadly.
Shame to hear of another one gone. Yes, he would come off the pitch at the end of a game with more mud on the front of his shirt than on his boots, but when he chose to stay upright he was a very good player.

Well I saw it enough times with my own eyes, but as I said he was a very likeable character and provided me with good memories of that era of football.

Lee won on points I reckon.
Excellent match up, I was supporting Frannie, couldn't stand Norman Hunter.
City had some good players but him and Colin Bell were stand out imo. It
RIP Frannie
RIP Frannie, along with Bell the greatest city player of all time
Very sad. Used to like watching him when I was a kid
I was very saddened to learn of the passing of Frannie Lee as he was a great character and one of my favourites. It was great listening to Frannie & Mike Summerbee speaking about the Joe Mercer days. He was part of a marvellous City team around the 1967-70 time and I remember their sides so well. So many of them have sadly passed away now. What great footballers they were.
The Charity Shield beating of West Bromwich and the snow covered Maine Road pitch for the defeat of Tottenham still stand out for me.
R.I.P.
