Bamford clearly pulled rank and no one felt they could question him. Make these penalty-taking decisions before the game ffs.

posted on 25/10/23

Agree, hope he learns from tonight, get the game won then make changes,
There must be only Bamford, his family and pets in the whole world who thought he should have taken that penalty,

In fairness, there's only two teams ahead of you, and both have made ridiculous starts to the season.

The other week you expected us to get 100 points at least. Now everything's gone to the wall. You're the most fickle sod on here and that's saying something.

posted on 25/10/23

Apparently Summerville wanted it - Bamford picked up ball first and headed to pen spot. Pure arrogance and no need.

That's a very rational assessment, and very true. However, while I thought Ipswich would fall away by now, they're proving they're a good team. Leicester will win this league 99% but Ipswich will take some catching, too. Tbh I quite like Ipswich - they're another team I think of as naturally top tier.

Yes some on here let a couple of wins go to their heads. 90pts possibly - if we start showing some consistency.

Still think we will go up, our best eleven is as good as there is in the league,

I've lived in Spain since 1980, but I grew up in 70s Britain and Ipswich were my childhood love. Such a good feeling to see them flying this high again after years of mediocrity.

I'll remind you you're the only side to beat them this season too. Didn't catch the game, but sounds like it must've been a good old ding-dong.

Anything less than a Leeds win on Saturday and more people will have their doubts about DF but atm I'm keeping the faith as I'm sure Farke knows by now what team works best and what like tonight he has seen with his own eyes what team doesn't work anywhere near good enough to earn promotion.

‘Why are we starting so slow’ it’s a great point, we got away with it against Millwall, Bristol and Norwich. With the squad we have…are we underachieving? Top 2 looks gone.

Do you understand basic english ?

I said Id be disappointed if we didnt 🤷🏻‍♂️

And I stand by that. This squad along with Leicester are miles infront of rest of the teams in this league.

That isnt been fickle, its been fooked off because tonight, the manager hasnt given the team, the best chance because of a host of mistakes.

Bamford is and always will be an arrogant tw4t.

Eventually, the people that get paid to make decisions
will realize he's way, way, way the fck past his sell by
date. Keeps costing us on the pitch and off. Get rid.

2 points per game gets you up almost every season…only this season 2 teams have made the best ever starts in Championship history.

Yes. Arrogance from the boss for sure. As for Bamford - he’s a striker and they need arrogance. However he should have been overruled for the penalty for sure.

DF needs criticism where it’s due. I haven’t given up on him - far from it - but he needs to recognise he ferrucked up royally last night. I hope he does.

I have never criticised Bamford, my view is that he is the best striker at the club, I did think Summerville should have taken the penalty, Patrick had done his part in winning the penalty. Crysencio being the form player should have taken it but I can understand why Bamford did, he needed it. Strikers are confidence players and the injuries and recent lack of goals have probably done him no end of harm psychologically and that was a chance to kick start his season.
I think Bamford needs to start scoring again and soon, he looked a worried man after the miss.

Rinse and repeat, Dennis. This is a third critical penalty miss. It’s not his fault he arrogantly believes he should take it. It’s the team’s fault for letting him. Rodon should have just decked him, he looked that furious after the miss.

Personally thi k Bamfords issue is the exact opposite of arrogance. Trying to force a boost of confidence but it doesn't work like that. Wouldn't back any of the players we had on the pitch to score though.

The issue yesterday is also just nothing to do with Bamford and the penalty miss. Its entirely to do with another lacklustre performance where we created maybe two meaningful chances against a poor side.

I find it odd how a manager does great when he gets it right but is a crap sucker when it doesn't work!..

He picks the team and puts it out, so he's playing who he trusts to do the job he wants doing how he wants it doing, does that not mean its up to the players to do what he wants doing?..

These players claim to be footballers, so they should do what footballers do, and part off that's what the manager says!..

As for penalties and who takes them, planting them in the top tier of the stand gets 2 points in rugby, so maybe Bamford is thinking off a career change!..

Fair enough, but it doesn't take a giant leap of imagination to equate 'disappointed if we didn't' to 'expect us to'.

We're all f@cked off. I'll admit Farke got it badly wrong last night but he's still learning about what is largely a new bunch of players and the limits of what they can do in full competitive matches. Thankfully there are plenty of those left in this division starting with a very winnable one this Sat.

I think what you say above is a great point and has been lost in the mire. Started slow, gave up a shot on goal within a minute, never really troubled their keeper all night and probably didn’t deserve a point.
