Did Ange go against his principles?

Let's face it, Romero is a basket case, just have to put up with this or make sure we have ample replacements

He is, and it's a fair argument that Ange's coaching may bring out the worst of him in that respect. It clearly brings out the best too though since he's been superb this season.

Oh, and it's also relevant to point out that (in my view) his red vs Chelsea wasn't even a foul, let alone a red card (we'll ignore the fact he should've been sent off for kicking out a few minutes earlier)

We lost the distribution centre from the back in Romero and VDV and the distributor in Maddison, the players that came in could do neither thats why Son was very inconspicuous, I have no confidence that Lo Celso would be any help at all, doubtful or any of the others, at least Ange has another week to work with them now, may be able to get some rhythm going

I think this is close to the truth. Son was totally lost.

However there is one other thing.....
managers are paid to manage the individual players and Aussieglue has failed miserably to do that.
He hasn't stopped Romero from making ridiculous challenges, he hasn't stopped Udogie from sliding in...
and he hasn't stopped Bissouma from risky play...yet again against Wolves Bissouma was lucky not to get a second yellow.
If Aussieglue is only good at high level strategy and cannot man-manage players, he is only half the manager we need, and he needs help.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ted's trying hard to get Ange sacked before Christmas to fulfil his prophecy.

Before the madness vs Chelsea, Romero had 2 yellows in 10 games. In a league where almost any foul now gets a yellow, Romero's discipline and timing of tackles has been superb. He lost his composure vs CFC.

One of the key principles of Angeball is to take a risk. If you want Bissouma to play it safe, you may as well drop him and play PEH in his role because one of the reasons we didnt click in much of the Wolves game was because Pierre "the handbrake" Hojbjerg was playing. Everything safe and sideways. Biss' role is to get things moving the CM and he is great at this and it requires taking risks, not all of which will pay off. He didnt play that well tbh, and i felt he, like a lot others, still looked pretty leggy from Mondays game which would have been physically (9 men for about 60 minutes) and emotionally draining.

Risk free football is Conteball.

Part of an aggressive press is aggression. vs CFC this was way over the top. We learn and move on.

Many of Biss' tackles have come from this and the fact that he will take the ball in tight areas. If he loses possession we are exposed because the FBs are upfield, Biss is often the deepest CM, and in trying to recover this situation, he often commits fouls which stop a dangerous position against us and get yellows.

If you watch his yellow vs Wolves, there was almost zero contact and in a non dangerous part of the pitch. In a game where the ref let so much go, it was remarkable that that challenge got a yellow.

What is also annoying, and i have seen it a lot this season, is that other teams are stopping us deep in our half. Fulham and Wolves especially did this. Wolves committed 20 fouls. I do not see Bissouma doing anything different from others except that it is more of a case of the where these fouls happen, rather than the nature of the fouls themselves.

In the same way as people have been saying, we're 12 games in, lets not get carried away with our lofty position, the same has to apply when things go wrong.

How we played, how we would play with that personnel, how we are able to freshen up the lineup, how confident we can be given all the changes is all affected by the fact that this rebuild is part way through - We need much better options than the likes of Dier, PEH, Skipp, GLC and we need legit cover for the likes of Maddison, Bissouma and the CBs/LB which does not weaken us significantly.

This will take at least 2 more windows.

Our wingers also don't seem to be looking for underlapping runs from midfield or fullbacks

Well guys...I guess you've corrected me! Romero, Udogie Bissouma and others with multiple cards on their backs are playing to Aussieglue's tune!
Okay.
But surely, when you're 3 defenders down (two injuries and one hamstring pull) you must play it a bit safer?
We lost to Wolves for 2 reasons...
1. No maddison ..hence very little Son.
2. No defence..... and Davies and Porro played well!

God only knows what happens if Bissouma was red carded?

I will agree that the referee was aweful.....one foul on Son in particular went unnoticed.

I do agree with this...the Ref was a clown.

I agree with this too. We were being fouled by Wolves all over the field.
The ref was unpredictable, mostly doing nothing and then suddenly a card.

For my money, at 90 mins and one goal up, you play it safe and park the bus. We didn't do that, did we?

Fair comment. I think most of us were tearing our hair out when the tackles started flying in against Chelsea. All so avoidable - cooler heads should have prevailed
