Am I alone in thinking that a better keeper could've done more with all 3 goals we conceded yesterday?
-------------
I would think you probably are, yes.

Second one looked a bit dodgy but what you expect him to do with the first and the third I don't know.

React quicker?

The first one, he falls on his ars3 in some awkward fashion.
The second one, dodgy like you agreed.
The third one, stood there as if he had given up. It was a good header, but at least move for it.

He is a flat footed, slow reaction time keeper.

Onana has had the 5th most saves in the league so far this season, if you sort out your dodgy attacking, dodgy midfielding and dodgier defending then perhaps Onana wouldn't have to face so many shots

posted on 10/12/23

The only way he's got a chance of getting the first one is if he gambles, and if he does that and Solanke puts it near post no doubt you'd be blaming him for that.

The third one he just isn't getting.

posted on 10/12/23

Football and it's twists eh?

If we'd have kept DDG we'd probably have at least 4/5 more points than we currently do and we'd also have got 47m to spend elsewhere.

I was willing to give him a chance but he just looks dreadful every single game so it's getting very difficult to stand by him.

ETH disasterclass along with Antony. Nearly 150m on absolute dross. Cheers Erik. 🙃

Yep, he's made plenty of mistakes but let's not go overboard and become Hafibots by questioning him for every goal we concede

Nope Onana is facking terrible. Awful signing

posted on 10/12/23

It's not even just the goals. Makes me nervous in other moments too.

Their first disallowed goal was a poor save from Solanke which he basically teed up for a tap in for the other Bournemouth player. He was saved by the offside.

Kind of why I'm looking forward to ETH being sacked. No more Onana. No more Antony.

posted on 10/12/23

He should have for the second, but he had no chance with the first and third.

First goal was on Bruno and Mctominay mainly although you could argue Solanke had too much space in the box as well.

Just a terrible football team and awful coaching. We have so many examples of these incidents now across the season and the manager isn't fixing them.

How can the manager fix it. He's probably laying in bed every night asking himself the same thing.

He has a world cup and CL winning CB on his bench but will play a LB there instead 'for balance'. Ironically we still played like a team with no balance whatsoever so he is absolutely wrong on this one.

He's a clown mate. Varane has clearly said something to him and we are being fed a load of BS because he doesn't want Sancho part 2 on his hands.

This team doesn't look coached at all. It's an absolute shambles.

No I don't think better keeper could have done better on all three. eg the first one was a great finish.
But he was allowed the chance by our outfield players.
As are most goals against. Plus he is a lot better with his feet than DDG was.

You maybe right or wrong about him, but it's time to drop the clown and other insults, because he clearly isn't.
Whether or not he should be sacked is up to the board, but it's difficult to think who could make an immediate change for the better.

Insults are okay when it's Rashford and others but not the manager? Right.....He's clueless 52.

He's in charge of the team tactics and team set up yet most weeks we look a shambles all over the pitch.

He's taken a lead on transfers because there's clearly nobody at the club he can trust. The result? He's wasted most of the money he's spent on absolute tosh.

In game management is usually sub par every single week too. His subs are often the wrong ones.

Managing the squad is proving tough for him too. These players are definitely not on his side I don't care what anyone says. How can they be? Varane situation needs explaining too. He's clearly had a go at him and being frozen out. And this is meant to be one of the nicest guys in football if you listen to what people say about Varane. We aren't talking Joey Barton type here. He's more like Juan Mata.

It's time to put an end to the excuses. He's rubbish and I was so so so wrong about him. I wanted him here as my first choice and he's just made too many mistakes now. Time is up.

We are all free to criticise, and to call whatever you want, but it weakens your argument if you abuse someone who clearly isn't terrible. I'm sure he's made plenty of mistakes, but we don't know what goes on behind the scenes.
For example, we're Varane and Casemiro his choices, or even Onana? I'm pretty sure Antony was.

It’s very clear ETH wanted Onana, I have no idea why you think he hasn’t been behind the purchase of the majority of players since his appointment, he just isn’t experienced enough for the job, he can’t handle top level experienced pros who want an input, he needs a young impressionable squad like a school teacher which is maybe ok in the Dutch league but the prem is remorseless and beyond his current capabilities as we will see yet again away from home on Sunday against a proper world class manager .

ETH isn’t “clueless”.

Anyone who understands what they’re watching can see that there are in fact some patterns and shapes to our play that we see other teams do. In possession we go into a 3-1-6 for instance and we do this consistently.

We genuinely don’t have the players to play the way ETH wants - there’s a real lack of quality and care on the ball across all areas of the pitch compared to the teams that are above us in the league.

That’s not to say there aren’t tactical amendments that need to be made. I’m also not keen on the stubbornness of having to have a left footed CB at all costs, but it is something other teams are doing (Gabriel at Arsenal, Van der Wen at Spurs, Ake at City, Pau Torres at Villa&hellip.

We’re much more vulnerable when we lose the ball compared to other tops teams, though we give the ball away so cheaply and quickly through certain players that we’re often not set to deal with that when it happens. A key part of being able to sustain possession is that players are close together and in certain proximity to one another when play breaks down. Of course, if play breaks down too quickly then you won’t be set. This happens all the time and we get caught as a result all the time. That’s down to the players.

We’re trying to play an expansive, fast, aggressive pressing and possession game with players that are mostly mid-table at best, and we’re getting mid-table results as a consequence.

If ETH were clueless then his Ajax teams wouldn’t have been so good to watch in the CL for two seasons, punching above their weight against the big boys. Whether he’s the answer for us is hard to say, because we’ve still got the weakest squad among the teams expected to challenge for European places.

That's where I do think questions need to be asked. I saw that defensive lineup yesterday and knew we were facked. This isn't after timing, I was 100% sure they wouldn't be able to keep a clean sheet. There were better options and for whatever reason, he failed to select them. And this is happening regularly
