Apparently we are interested in LB Ben Davies at Spurs. He'd be a good signing.

I watched the West Ham rb Johnson against Bristol City who is supposedly a player we're interested in and he definitely has some decent pace but a bit like Forest Gump with no real end product and I'd imagine any loan deal would insist he starts which I can't see Farke agreeing to play him ahead of Archie, Byram or even Shacks so I'll be very surprised if he joins us.

Macca, I think West Ham have 7 home grown players (Anang, Johnson, Cresswell, Ward-Prowse, Ings, Bowen and Antonio), for Johnson to move this window it would impact on Moyes' ability to recruit to an already stretched squad.
I doubt if that move going to happen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I doubt it too Dennis but I've also read he's out of contract at the end of the season and West Ham may consider selling him now but obviously they're pretty stretched themselves but money obviously talks and if we did sign him, not sure how much for or if we have the funds but at least he would strengthen the squad and be very good cover with great potential like Archie to grow with the club.

People need to remember that anyone we bring in now, unless they are loan signings, and I think we are limited on the amount of loan signings we can make, needs to not only enhance our promotion push but also needs to be either premier league quality or have the potential to reach that level.
No point in signing someone who is going to struggle at the next level.
Are there those players out there.

He's currently out injured, doesn't prevent us signing him but need to consider that.
Just looked at his potential due back date, a month today.
Personally, if it's a loan, that rules it out for me.

just reporting what The Athletic are saying. Wouldnt be surprised to see us sign someone totally out of the blue. Think we will sign someone. The 49ers go about their business quietly

Ben Davies is miles better than Johnson by the way and the type of player we should be looking at. West Ham fans say Johnson is shocking.

Outwood does my comment sound as though I was criticising you, I wasn't. Thanks for filling us in on what The Athletic is saying, I don't subscribe, is that from Phil Hay's column?

Old friend of mine is a Hammer's fan, I was going to pick his brain but his dad is in hospital following a fall and not eating so understandably it's not the right time.

Tanganga is the latest Spurs player to be linked with us on loan He is 24,primarily a rb currently out on loan at Augsburg but Spurs are expected to recall him and want to loan him out to a championship club. He also seems to be quite versatile being able to play at LB and CB.
Either way whoever we get or if we get anyone I think it will be deadline day or just after we play Plymouth in the cup as we seem to be covered until then at least.

On way to Millwall Macca.

Hopefully there is smoke to go with this fire. For me, Doig, Davies and Roberts would be a decent window. Even if Davies is out till March, he would be here for the crunch fixtures in April, which include Southampton, Hull, Sunderland, Boro and Coventry.

Tanganga

Nearly 25 and played 27 professional games.

I mean do people really think this is the way to go.

On what Level, is this a good idea 🤦

No recent mention anywhere of Tanganga, his career seems to have stalled a bit and he played no minutes at all for Augsburg. He is primarily a right footed centre back who can play at right back, a kind of Joe Rodon Mk. II. Sign him to deputise for Rodon and Gray. They have never been looking seriously at him.
Anyway he is on his way to Millwall, reported all over the place.
As for Ben Davies, a 30 year old out injured to replace Firpo (with his history of injuries) or Byram (with his history of injuries) or Cooper (with his history of injuries) or Struijk (with his history of injuries).
We have a history of buying players who aren't quite fully fit or who break down soon after they sign for us, not another one surely.

LIW - Struijk was tongue in cheek to emphasise a point.

Connor Roberts would make the most sense to me as he doesn't appear to be injured and he would be joining up with 3 other Welsh national team players he knows well in the Leeds side. Ben Davies another Welsh lad could also join us and make it 5 Welsh national team players in the Leeds squad.. John Charles would be proud, I'm sure.

That'd be bad for us if Wales played and we had to give half our team up!..

Apparently we've approached Luton for there left back Ryan Giles.

I agree with you about our injury history, Dennis, but this season has been much better, partly because, I think, Farke plays with a lower intensity than previous coaches. Davies had a hamstring issue in 20-21 and 19-20, but since then, he has had a good playing record and has been out for 11 days with his current injury. He played every Spurs game in November and December. In my view, we need him for our run in and the likely play-offs. His current injury is described as a knock but it would be up to our medical team to decide how much of an issue that is.

Farkeness, Postecoglu on the 12th Jan said 'Ben has got a hamstring injury, so it'll probably be around four or five weeks [out for him].' with a due back date of no earlier than 17th Feb, no way you sign a player with five months of the season on loan that you can only guarantee at best four months.
On a permanent it's a different question, he's a few months older than Bamford, is he the kind of player we sign with a view to playing in the premier league in the next few seasons. I don't think so.

Thanks, Dennis, I missed that from Ange, second thoughts required here, shame.
