City vs the PL

FIFA will have something to say about the independent regulator. Other nations have been banned or otherwise punished for doing something along the same lines. If it is deemed to be political interference then FIFA will have to ban England like they do the minnow nations for political interference.

Yep, the PL came out with all guns blazing with the 115 charges being lapped up with glee by the great unwashed.

Now they’re faced with the prospect of City individually defending all those charges which will be both time consuming and costly with the prospect of a new Government installing an independent regulator anyway.

Football is a business and should be treated as such.

No one has a problem with efforts being made to protect clubs from insolvency but trying to stifle clubs with no financial problems to try and protect the status quo is a different matter that would be deemed illegal in most other fields of business

... on the other hand, I'm hoping that the same disorganisation has made a mess of the rushed filings and the whole case will implode.

From what I understand, what we are accused of is much more than breaking PL rules but are subject to criminal fraud spanning 9 years if found guilty due to it impinging on tax law and the Fraud Act. If we are guilty of that, then throw the book at everyone involved.

I do think that we will still have non-cooperation charges stick, but only due to legal advice that we did not have to provide those evidences rather than non-cooperation full-stop.

They won’t release the full hearing, it’s a PL rule that it’s confidential that the clubs would have agreed with too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So it being behind closed doors is in compliance with PL rules?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, all hearings being confidential and heard in private is specifically in their process and has been for a long while.

Bear in mind it’s an odd setup as the clubs themselves are shareholders in the pl.

Pretty much. The bit I’ve always struggled with is it doesn’t make sense to me why do what UEFA alleged with the sponsorships (which is the most serious charge). There’s no benefit to City to do it aside from potentially speeding up cash availability. The benefits would have been for the sponsors had they done it the way that was alleged.

The PL haven’t really explained the detail though so maybe they’re alleging we did something different to what was alleged by UEFA and heard at CAS.

Good point, I’m sure many people have an image of City officials sitting there saying “We’re not telling you” to every question rather than acting on legal advice

Why would legal advice be that you shouldn't provide any evidence demanded? Evidence which would have exonerated you? What would you be hiding? It's more likely the legal advice was "if you give them that you're facked, you'd rather deal with the fallout from non co-operation than give them that".

I mean, when the FA say the hearing will be behind closed doors, you guys start wondering what they're hiding.

But City's non co-operation doesn't raise the same suspicions.

I've spoon-fed you enough.

Sorry about that Ashtonian.

I thought he was getting better at trying to understand when hit by the bombshell (to him, and not people who are actually trying to follow the proceedings) that the hearing was behind closed doors, but then reverted back to type.

Melton tried, I've tried. But the mook continues to play dumb.

It's nearly ready.

That's okay Manc. Like I said earlier it's the internet version of The Traitors - They all know who's guilty but haven't a feckin' clue what they're talking about.

Manchester United have lured Manchester City's Omar Berrada across the city to become the club's new chief executive in a remarkable coup. Berrada has been chosen to succeed Richard Arnold in a major coup for INEOS ahead of their 24 per cent stake being ratified.
