Why wouldn't he go to Brentford? Even chose them above Spurs?

He's 18 yrs old. Never played in the league. He could well be choosing a club where he's very likely to play a reasonable amount of minutes without huge pressure. Plus Brentford don't stand in their players way if they want to leave, as is likely to be the case with Toney in the summer.

He can get 2 yrs experience and game time and move again and he'd still only be 20 yrs old. Halaand was praised for thinking of his long term career for choosing Dortmund for development and game time rather than jumping straight to a massive club, Nusa might not be in the same league but the principle is the same.

Apparently the player wasn’t sure about joining Spurs, too big a jump, as a result we ended negotiations on Thursday. To say Brentford ‘hijacked’ the deal is just sensationalism. £30m is a lot for an 18 year old from Belgium with very average stats, this potential signing wasn’t doing anything for me. Be interesting to see if we make any other moves before this window closes.

totally agree - though the nordics Spurs supporters are going ballistic and want Levy out!

I don't know the player and te few clips, didn't impress me but he was being monitored by a few PL sides, inc Utd, Everton and Arsenal and he chose,,,Brentford

Wouldn't surprise me if Brentford have promised more game time than us...How else would he choose a shed over a state of the art facilities?
