I get managers defending players but sometimes discretion is the better part of valour.

Why get embroiled in this, defending his player who clearly dived looks stupid, but is the natural thing to do if you choose to comment as his manager. Claiming he needs protecting, really? the guy buys loads of freekicks.

Yes Fulham's tweet is petty and ill-judged, but just let it hang there as being exactly that, rather than the feeble response which no one really buys.
