That is the issue, he wouldn't. He is awful at those sorts of saves. He is just slow at reacting, dives like a turtle, and can't get his arm away from his body.

I still have hope for him.
Judging players on half a season, where the team was collectively poor, was never the sensible choice.
He has played well for a while now and seems to be up for the challenge.. Everyone was panicking about De Gea too in the first season.

De gea was 20/21 when he joined.
Onana is almost 28, should be at the peak of his powers, not a mental midget that if the rest of the team is garbage means he's also garbage, that's not exactly what you want from a keeper at a top club really.

I expect his shot stopping will always be a frustration for us as fans, it's whether the positive attributes in his game outweigh what would traditionally make a good goalkeeper.
His distribution yesterday was fantastic, I'd love to see more of that and hopefully a new manager (if that's the case) in the summer wants a keeper of his ilk.
I have always sympathised with our GK's and defenders when it comes to playing out from the back because the movement ahead of them is frankly embarrassing and has been for years.
I think the problem with Onana is his temperament. He is inclined both to recklessness and panic. And let's face it given the defences he is playing behind there is plenty to panic about.

There was always talk that his wife preferred to live jn Spain. Given he has a young child, maybe he hasn't had an offer good enough to take him abroad again.
He’s been ok recently, even decent in some games. I don’t think he’s top class material, always going to be a mistake in him, but to give him credit he’s looked a little better.
