----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hes currently being forced to play left wing at the minute because Rangers have I think at least EIGHT players injured middle to front area.

Hes doing well there though. Hes pretty mobile and clever on the ball.

Hes not an out and out striker though - he seems to be one of those players that has good attributes but hard to pin down what his actual position is.

Hes one I would like to see us keep but we would have zero chance in terms of both fee and wages.

Sooner we wake up and realise Welsh/Scales are backup at best the better.
---------------------------------------------------------------

If only you had spent £7-8m on a couple of CBs in the summer you might not have to play those two.

Yes, Wolves fans were still trying to figure out what he's good at? He is more of a 10 than a 9 I think.

He is doing well, working hard, Difficult to say what his best role is.

Wolves were daft as a brush to think he is worth spending £35m on however !

Versatile, hard worker shows glimpses of quality.

Hes never a £35m player in a million years but he does have some good attributes.

His goal yesterday showed he can produce quality in and around the box. It just doesnt happen often enough - even at our level in Scotland.

His best game for us was probably on the left wing against Benfica - his extra personal motivation probably contributed to that.

What I will say about Silva is he has given everything every time he plays for us. It would be very easy for someone who has already made a big move and is no doubt already financially secure for life to come to scotland, look down his nose and half erse it.

Even when he has come off the bench Silva works his socks off and looks like he really wants to make a positive contribution for us.

Hopefully he will be remembered for making a decent contribution to a successful season for us.

Hes only a big goal in a cup final/OF game/critical league match away from going down in the history books as a bit of a cult hero for us.

His interview after the match was good also. basically saying if it wasnt about the money he would like to stay here. He sems to be really enjoying his time here however and getting on with the squad.

wouldnt surprise me if he is back here on loan but i doubt it still.

We can obv forget about signing him unless Wolves will accept 5/6m which aint gonna happen

We're going to have to cut our losses at some point. We need to get him off the wage bill if he's not in the matchday squad.

I think that Fabio has an extremely high ceiling in the coming years. Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of waiting for it to happen.

Not his fault we over paid for him. I really like him as a player and he always gives you 100%.

On performances so far I'd rather we kept Sima than Silva, but I'm not convinced either of them are in our price range.

Sima far more likely, rumours are Sima would have cost us 12m to sign at the begining of the season, he will have 1 year left on his contract this summer sp there maybe a deal to be had. Sima is very keen to stay. If we get CL i think we sign him.

Silva is a better technical footballer than Sima IMO.

Sima has pace to burn and more end product though. If he has Silvas technical ability on the ball he'd be a worldie.

A combo of the two would be ideal!

Sima with a year left on his deal would maybe cost around £5m?

Ironically I think we would have had no chance with Sima if he hadnt gotten injured and he'd kept scoring at the rate he was.

No chance anyone pays 12m for Sima. Maybe if he’d continued as he was for second half of season.

Also no idea how Brighton could demand double what they paid after two poor seasons. So can’t believe that.

Would be surprised if he went for more than 6m after two bad injuries since they signed him, and only half a season of good performances in 3 years.

that is what they wanted last summer by all accounts. Obv they wont be asking that this summer due to his contract. I agree about 5/6m would be what I would expect.

Haven’t seen that about the 12m last summer, where is that from?

Seems ridiculous if so after they paid 7m, and he flopped out on loan twice. Would explain why there’s no buy option though.

was back when we signed him on loan. It was reported we had to get him on loan cos Brighton value him between 10-15m. Im sure it was Rangers Review talked about it that they believed it was about 12m last summer.

Fair. Still a gamble for us to pay 6m for a young player who has already had a couple bad injuries but would take him for that if there was a chance.

Silva would seem out our price range but after loans to Belgium, Holland and us it’s hard to see where he’d go. Unless one of the big clubs in Portugal wanted him on loan, would think there’s a chance at another loan. Couldn’t see a big club in France/Germany being after him and would like to think we could compete with smaller clubs there.

Brighton have a 1 year extension option on Sima so reality is he won't be out of contact at the end of next season.

I've also seen people close to Brighton say they have no desire to sell him and that they have a plan for him like they do with most prospects they sign.

They knew when they signed Sima they were taking a bit of a punt on someone who had never come through an acedemy or given any real coaching. He had 1 year of professional football in his locker. They took a bit of a punt on raw potential and have tried to organise a series of loans for him to get more games at different levels and environments before seeing whether he's good enough to play in the Prem. And if he's not they hope he will have played enough and made enough of an impact to get their money back.

I think we can probably forget about Sima for now. Unless we win the league and qualify for the CL most of our summer budget has already been spent on Diomande anyway.

Why would Diomande be most of our summer budget? How on earth have you came to that conclusion

they could but they may also not want an unhappy player who doesnt want to be there. Its reported that Sima is very interested in joining us on a permanent deal. He isnt gonna get into that Brighton team so they may well be happy to just cut their losses, rather than have to pay him for an additional year. I agree I think he will only be signed if we win the league.

Of course but they aren't going to cut a loss of £7.5m just because it suits Rangers.

Where did he say that? Haven’t seen that, and would be surprised if that’s the case. And makes no sense putting a £4m buy option on for Cortes if that’s the case

We’ve consistently spent around £20m every year. Focus from CFO last month seemed to be on cost cutting and continued investment, so would seem investing in players on lower wages would be on cards given the players that will be leaving (Roofe, Jack, Barisic at least). Never mind anyone he get cash or off the books out of Hagi, Lammers, Matondo, Davies etc.

they paid 7m for him so not a loss if they sell him at 7m again. if they have no other offers and they dont want an unhappy player on the books that is unlikely to play for them then they may have no choice to accept the offer of 5/6m if thats what we bid. Sima could say the only team I want to play for is Ranger he has been assured we will look to get him for that 5/6m area.

All ifs and buts, I suspect we wont bid anymore than 6m time will tell if that would be enough.

I sure Clement said that it would affect the summer budget but not that that it would be most of the summer budget.... a budget that has yet to be set.
