What’s hard to understand is that when we were the absolute top dogs and City just pre Sheik City and the dippers like us now cycling through manager after manager neither of them ever gave us an easy game just through sheer pride workrate and determination if anything I would like to see the same from us Sunday and show some character.

People said when Casemiro came back alongside Mainoo we'd be tighter in midfield and our defence would get more protection but if anything we've been just as bad.

….

This is because we have over rated Mainoo. A lot of the game passes him by. He is a very good prospect though but he is nowhere near ready for a two man midfield.

ETH’s tactics don’t help either. Where on earth was McT supposed to be playing against Everton. He was neither in midfield or up top. He seemed to be in no man’s land.

I dont think Mainoo is overrated. Hes done well in his first few senior games. Hes a talent no doubt and shows a lot of maturity on the ball, especially compared to those senior players around him who seem to have forgotten the basics and should show better themselves, but for a club like United to 'depend' on him already, which is the way it seems to be going, just shows how far United have regressed.

Same goes for Hojland.

On the ball isn’t his problem. It is off the ball.

Yeah. Some do go over the top with him as you'd expect, but I think given the state we're in it's slightly harsh to say games pass him by. I think you could put pretty much whatever midfielder you want in that position - games would pass them by because this team just isn't set up to control football matches unfortunately.

I'm overall pretty relieved he isn't involved in the England set up, but part of me was curious to see what he looked like playing with, let's face it, much better players.

He is less involved in matches than Sheffield United’s midfielders. He’s a talented 18 year old with little experience at the top level and it shows. He’s been massively overrated because his impact in matches is nonexistent most of the time.

Sunday is the acid test. It's Last Chance Saloon for some of these players. If we lose, the season ends and the inquests start. Not just by the supporters and press... it begins in ernest for INEOS too.

If these players and coaching staff cant get motivated by that then God help them.

Sunday is going to be emotional. I cant wait.

Think you guys win 2-0 unfortunately. Having a free week to prepare and basically being your most important game of the season with Hoijland potentially back.

Think this games more important to you compared to us who have played every week with a thread bare squad and will probably be one game to many.

If you set up the same way you did at Anfield maybe not but with Mainoo now in there to help give legs to Casemiro and a front 3 of Rashford, Hoijland and Garnacho with Bruno in behind, is extremely threatening. Basically all or nothing now for Ten Haag.

Can we win the game? Of course. But we are so mentally fragile that it doesn't take much for us to get bullied out of a game and Liverpool play in such a way that thats what could happen. I'm not sure if ETH is the type of manager who can really inspire us to really go for it from the start. You feel that Liverpool will be more inspired than us.

Some teams thrive with the underdog tag - we just wilt

Some teams do occasionally thrive on the underdog tag.
But they are underdogs for a reason, which is that the other team is better.

Consensus amongst Liverpool fans is they'll lose. Our miserly lot have written us off before a ball is kicked, the usual simpletons are out in force I see.

Wherever happens ETH is going nowhere, for now.

No Liverpool privately believes they’ll lose. I’m not having that face-saving nonsense.
