I've no idea tbh there isnt a natural successor Xabi was most ideal imo. Personally just want us to continue the work we do. Play good football, punch above our means in terms of what we spend but still mix it with the big spenders and rule breakers whilst abiding by the rules. Ofcourse thats hard enough even with someone like Klopp as manager but still.
Think itll be even more important now to manage the group over the period, they will have a big role to play in how we move on from Klopp. Who wants out who we need to stay. Edwards has to find the right people not just manager but the team around whoever that is. That said it seems like a very good group with a good balance of young talent and experience.
Replacing Klopp, tough act to follow.
Do you think he might want to wait a couple of years until the bigger job at Man City becomes available ?

Nah, i'd be disappointed if Xabi would even entertain the idea of taking such a pointless job where even Pep feels the hollowness of all his achievements with them.

The one person hit most by Alonso staying at Leverkusen is Kane. He's not going to win the league for the foreseeable future.

Maybe the Germany job will become available this summer if they don't win the Euros. Might be a better fit for him.

Getting City back into the PL from League 1 will be a big job. I'd give it 115/1 he'd take it.
Flatrack Kane needs to go to PSG to win trophies. Even then he could blow it. Spurs have improved since he left and took his desperate pursuit of personal accolades at the expense of the team with him.

Need to just play out cards under the water and still get Xabi in the summer. It's probably Leverkusen that won't let him off his contract. If it's him we want then this shouldn't put us off, we need Edwards and co to get to work on them.

Everything is suggesting that it’s Alonso that has decided this, and if we’re being honest it’s the right thing for him. I’ve not seen a single suggestion that it’s down to Leverkusen, and they would be pretty powerless to stop him if he wanted to leave.
How would they be powerless when they have a contract with him? Any potential suitors would have to buy it out, no?

They can refuse to listen to suitors and make him stay, which is what perhaps has happened here. They tell him to stay one more year and they won't stand in his way after that.
