Players downing tools

I don't think even Pep would be able to manage us if he had to manage these players, under this ownership and had to be Ten Hag instead of himself. That's why I think Pep is a bit overrated.

Will Mount snitch on all of them?

Bar maybe the odd one or two, I've never really bought that the players are downing tools. I do think there is an issue with how they respond to adversity and high pressure situations. Which on the pitch, results in what we see - poor decision making, lapses in concentration, a reduced ability to do the basics.

I personally think our problems are a combination of a number of things.

Lack of ability within the squad.
Questionable attitudes.
Managers ability.
Injuries.
Off field problems / distractions
Lack off leadership at the club

Call our problems/issues at the club Legion, for they are MANY.

Saying it's just the manager, or just the players or just injuries is perhaps a tad naïve, we will all have varying, and valid opinions on why the team are so poor but I think, and fully believe that there are a multitude of problems that will need addressed and solved, whether or not they all can be without large and/or small changes I do not know and worst of all even if they are all addressable I fear it will take a good few seasons

Where do you read a lot about it not being the managers fault? Because it's not on here.
I font see Mainoo, Garnacho, Rasmus, McT as trouble makers . In fact I don't know who it would be.Antony perhaps, he seems a bit of a d*ck.

I said yesterday it's time for him to go, but I do think he was given a poor hand, poor squad, off field problems , Greenwood for example, but also Ronaldo and Sancho.
Plus a record number of injuries.

I genuinely thought that the man capable of restoring Ajax as a force to be reckoned with in Europe whilst playing an attractive brand of football was an ideal candidate to sort out the mess you've been in for such a long time now, but it clearly isn't working out.

He's had practically two full seasons now, and the team seems to be going sideways at best. As much as everyone knows he isn't the root of the problem, he hasn't really given any signs of being the solution either.

Shame, because I really wanted him to do well, if only to be able to shove it in Robb's face from here to eternity.

He bottled a CL semifinal against Spurs of all teams.

That should been an indication of things to come

This. I think lack of collective confidence is a bigger thing than lack of motivation. Against Palace, the players ran a lot. Sometimes the problem was that they ran when they should have held their positions.

There’s about 115 reasons why…and bribery reports from Spain

The problems at United are a combination of multiple things and are not down to just the manager.

We should all know this by now. But I will list these as points below with some narrative of my opinion of the issues.

1. ETH. After a very good first season that promised so much more he has shown that he is not up to the job. His insistence of playing 4-2-3-1 with players like McT and Eriksen as a 2 in midfield is criminal. He has been unable to adapt or even bother to try another system.

2, Player fitness and Injuries. The physical fitness of this group of players is bordering on being non league standard. The injuries this season are just unreal. No manager can deal with that. Remember Klopp a few years back.

3. Player mentality. As well as being physically weak these players are mentally weak. There is clearly something not right with this squad and it runs through all of them.

4. The team responsible for player signings, scouting and contracts. I have left this last because we appear to be fixing this issue.

What does any of that have to do with him bottling a CL QF against Spurs.

Good summary. Just to add: points 2 & 3 are also in part down to our long-term failings in recruitment (point 4). We are a long way behind City, Arsenal and Liverpool in terms of the athletic profile of our squad, and I think the amount of running ETH wants them to do (and the amount of training to raise their physical level) has a lot to do with the number of injuries we're experiencing. We clearly haven't made physical capabilities - or mental strength - a sufficiently high priority in selecting players to buy.

On point 1 - has he had the players to try anything drastic formation / tactics wise? I don't think he has.

On point 3 - I disagree that ALL of them are weak. Onana, Varane Martinez, Casemiro, Bruno have played at the highest level and won major titles.

posted 3 weeks, 1 day ago

I don’t think they’ve downed tools, they just aren’t very good at football.

posted 3 weeks, 1 day ago

Onana and Bruno haven’t won major titles, Casimero and Varane are done and Martinez has less working legs than Heather Mills.

Onana has been to a Champs League.

Bruno has won the Euros with Portugal.

Varanes concussion issues means we should move on from him, but I disagree that Case.iro is 'done'.

Been to a CL

Bruno has not won the Euros with Portugal.

If you think Casimero isn’t done fair enough but also LOL

Whatever the reasons, the fact that utd have a negative goal difference with just 3 games to go (none of which are particularly easy), is criminal.
