Quite surprised there were so few comments when this bombshell was announced yesterday.

The deal is worth £50m a year and set to run until 2027.
=====
Early bird catches the worm I guess but why is this part in bold letters?

I suppose it's £50m not going to ISIS.

But seriously helping terrorists is not a small offence especially if they knew that's what they were doing. Don't care if they're club sponsors if it's true. Should have the book thrown at them like anyone else. Stanchart should be investigated thoroughly over this and charged accordingly.

Also, the link between Stanchart and Liverpool is not the same as some other deals we see in the Prem, like Man City faking sponsorships from their cousin companies. APT rules don't apply and there's literally no link that confers any sort of responsibility on Liverpool, moral or otherwise.

If in the investigation Liverpool are found to have done anything untoward, they should also be charged and made to pay, like Man City.

I didn't know they were also actually funding the terrorists as opposed to just moving money around for them.

There are no fake deals that I am aware of.

Most of their fans model themselves on terror groups.

What is the point you're making here Boris?

posted on 5/6/24

Also what a stupid question. Why would Liverpool fans be happy their sponsor helped arrange transactions for terrorist groups?

I hate the scousers, but this article screams of the kid at school who would put his hand up with glee when he spotted the teacher had made a spelling mistake.

Coincidentally, that kid also ended up a boring virgin just like Boris.

I get the feeling City fans are feeling desperate.

How many have you seen making excuses, obfuscating and playing dumb on behalf of Stanchart the way Man City fans do on here even though everybody knows for a fact that they're cheats and have despicable owners?

It goes without saying surely. Not really something most fans would be interested in. It's not like it's Liverpool Football Club making the transactions.

Chelsea were rightfully made to force Abramovich to lose ownership of the club due to his ties to terrorism.

Therefore, by the same token, Liverpool must get new sponsors to replace standard Chartered, and Man City must be made to get new owners to replace their current terrorist linked owners.

If the contract allows it I'm sure that's a hot topic at the club. I'm sure they're looking into ways of disowning the sponsor and getting a new one.

However they don't have terrorist linked owners. That's a moronic comment.

If there's an investigation, a trial and Stanchart are found guilty, our owners might review the club's position.

Yeah but guilt by association.....something something....... equivalence with City's situation......gotcha.....something

This is genuinely how Boris' mind works.

LFC and the owners aren't daft. They'll be keeping an eye on this, bear in mind its only accusations at this stage. They'll be aware of the PR knockon effect it could have. Boris is just upset they haven't given their instantaneous hot take yet.

Its not the gotcha he thinks it is.

SCB have been under scrutiny for money laundering since 2011.

This is hardly a bolt out of the blue

How was this resolved?

posted on 5/6/24

It's an uncomfortable position for LFC to be in but it's hardly a devastating blow or anything that they can feel at fault for.

They may have an 'exit clause' to remove themselves from this association and no doubt there would be many queuing up to become their main sponsor. But its just accusations at this stage so too early for the likes of Sports Washed Boris to start frothing at the mouth and trying to draw parallels with City's transgressions
