Jack Clarke rumour circulating again. Would you sell Gnonto for him?

Seems we want him but at £15-£20m he’s gonna blow a quite a bit of the budget.

But if we sell Gnonto then he’s affordable and others can still come.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
you're talking as if the 90+ mill we received is completely unavailable to spend.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m sure quite a bit of it is unavailable to spend. Farke will have a budget and £90 million will be far in excess of what we can afford to spend and stay signing the rules.

Anyway we won’t have £90m in the bank after the player sales. It doesn’t work like that unfortunately.

Stay ‘within’ the rules.

And wasn't Farke bleating on about how Ipswich
were better than us because they had experienced
players? So far we've added Rothwell (who I like)
in that department and that's it. Something is not
quite right at the club. And the clock's ticking.

Get a fcking move on.

I think all of our patience regarding the quality and depth of our squad with only a couple of weeks before the transfer window closes is wearing very very thin and I personally now feel we are being fobbed off Bates style and I fear the imminent departures of 2 or 3 more star
players and inadequate cheap option replacements.

I hope I'm wrong but the turgidly slow time it takes and
has taken Leeds to finalise additional much needed
incoming transfers raises serious Batesque red flags
and if last night's impressive performance by Burnley is
anything to go on I'd say every other club in the
Championship is fighting for just one automatic
promotion place and our lack of numbers in key areas of
the squad tells me we are looking at play offs at the very
best.

Personally I hope we throw money at Blackburn
and sign Sammie Szmodics. Bloody goal machine.
Stick him in our side - with the chances we create -
and he'd score 30+ goals. Done it again tonight.

You also dont have to pay player purchases upfront. It does work like that fortunately

Piroe managed 40 in 2 seasons in a poor Swansea side. Farke found a way to reduce that output.

Personally losing faith in the man in charge. Sounds harsh after picking up 90 points last season I know.

Agree White.

Someone mentioned Graham Potter the other day.
Why not try and convince him to replace Farke?

Bit far fetched yes. But the same club landed Bielsa.

I could be wrong but I seem to remember he had no inclination to drop to the Championship?

Well let's see what happens Saturday lunchtime a liitke over 48 hours after tomorrow night's cup match how strong our squad is. I am not confident at all as for me if we concede 3 times from 4 chances against Pompey then WBA and then Shef Wed will be licking their lips and we have Hull and Burnley at home after that. I would snap your hand off for 7 points from those games and if as I fear we only get about 3 or 4 then I think Farke has to be let go because 4 or 5 points from 5 games is totally unacceptable.

Then the question is who replaces him? Graham Potter would be ideal but I'm not sure even a club as famous and with the massive support we offer would tempt Potter to drop into the Championship.

The way I see it is even if Farke manages to keep us in the promotion race and we did get promotion I have no confidence in Farke's ability to keep us up and I would even consider David Moyes as a better option than Farke despite what West Ham fans may have thought of his defensive approach I think he'd enjoy the challenge at Leeds and be prepared to take us on even in the Championship and at least defensively we'd not be allover the place.

Anyway if we win Saturday or even draw then I suppose DF suddenly becomes a better manager and we carry on as if everything is okay for the time being at least.

We need three new signings in my opinion before the end of the month, and that figure increases according to how many more we lose. Personally think Gnonto will go & nobody else so that makes it four required.

Maybe the squad had started to believe their own hype about being favourites to win the league which in part contributed to the result on Saturday.

I feel West Brom is a huge game already & consequently make wholesale changes for tomorrow night, especially as we've established our squad depth definitely isn't what it could be.

Need to stop waiting for permission from Sheff Utd and Ipswich and sign Smozdics. Not exactly cheap for his age but he's banging goals in again.

He’s actually a very similar player to Piroe with a similar strike rate…would need to change set up to get the best out of Szmodics and like you said Shaun he’s going to be costly. I’d be inclined to spend on a creative midfielder instead.

I understand the frustration, Snow, and Batty, but this is not only down to Farke, it's down to the recruitment team as a whole. They are working within the limitations of our finances. Yes, we have sold players, but we have not brought in 80+ million in cash straightaway. It will be more like a quarter of that. If you then look at our debt repayment for this year, I am surprised there is any money left for recruiting new players. Where do we get fifteen million for Rowe from? Where do we get twelve million for Szmodics from? This makes me think we are most likely to recruit in the loan market.
At this stage, I am prepared to accept that the Portsmouth result was an outlier. It was bizarre. But it was just one game. We will tighten up against West Brom and the Owls, I am sure of this.
We are one game into a long season. There is such an abundance of talent in our squad, we know we can compete at the top end of the table. Let's keep it positive.

The club have the debt repayment, but that has nothing to do with PSR at this point and we are in a very healthy position on that front. Trouble is everyone knows we have money and they want us to pay over the odds.

We have 2 wins from the last 9 games in the league, 3 from 12 if you count the play-offs. I'm sure we'll all feel more positive if we start picking results up again.

gelderd, you can yes. For sure.

Me, club and Farke have a lot to do before
I start calming down. History tells us what are
actions have brought us so far. Are we
repeating that history? Hope not.

Yep, that does make the 1st team squad look very thin especially as the squad total includes 3 keepers.

That would make 4 keepers - Messlier (technically, anyway) Darlow and Cairns (x2)!

The fact we have the smallest squad in THIS league shows the lack of investment and interest in the club by current and past owners. It also debunks the belief that a small squad at Leeds came from MB.

Let's hope we sign a few gooduns before the window ends
