City to be deducted 70-80 points?

That’s a decent punishment, it needs all of their trophies seized from the time period of the crimes occurring on top.

Straight back up, still rich and all forgotten about a year later. Some other club missing out on promotion as City walk the Championship even after a few big players jump ship.

It does seem like the end of the road for Cheaty

Expecting titles won will be stripped off them too?

For me, that’s more important than points deduction and/or relegation. They can’t be allowed to keep titles won during the period in which they broke the rules, if found guilty

Would 70 points even put them down? Only just, last season.

I think this is all wishful thinking.

Was going to say 70 points might not even relegate them depending on how poor the bottom 3 are.

Pep would probably even see it as a challenge on par with a league title.

I could see the PL giving them a points deduction which is the difference between the average points total under Pep and the average points total for the third from bottom club in the PL. Imagine the excitement as they battle to avoid relegation and creep up on teams behind them. A 60 point deduction could put them in range.

I don't think they should be relegated. Had they not cheated and just signed a few less players they wouldn't have got relegated anyway. They may have just had a few less titles and a few more 2-6th place finishes.

The only fair punishment is to strip the trophies won and leave them all vacant. Lance Armstrong didn't get to keep his winners medals nor do athletes who cheat in the Olympics.

That to me is the best punishment there is as it makes anyone thinking about cheating in the future think twice. Sending them down for a year for them to come straight back up isn't enough. They'd probably see that as a minor speed bump and well worth the trophy haul.

Plus I don't want the Manchester derby taken away for a year.

Why not? Everything on the thread are hypotheticals and personal wish lists.

The titles have to go.

Otherwise it sets the precedent, you can cheat and win things but you'll have a rough season or two when we find out.

Give it to the 2nd place teams, with an asterix. Vacant for however many season will look terrible.

Also is a 70 point deduction not extremely lenient considering Forest had a 4 point deduction for 1 PSR charge.

City have 119 charges, everyone bar the 1st PSR breach is surely more serious than Forest, given it's repeat offending for the next 6 PSR charges and the other charges are fundamentally charges of dishonesty.

That said it would be fun to see an 78 point deduction leaving them with the average points for safety available but needing a perfect season to stay up.

Every game potentially a relegation decider. Every team wanting to scalp the cheats and send them tumbling out of the division.

Has anyone considered the possibility that City haven't actually broken any rules?

Personally I've always suspected that they are as dully efficient off the pitch as they are on it.

Working away in the background there's an accountancy equivalent of Rodri, joylessly keeping things ticking over, and a marketing equivalent of Boring Brute Boreland, banging in hat tricks of sponsorship deals that nobody outside of the club cares about.

And you can bet that there will be a legal equivalent of Borenado Silva just waiting to come on when required and put the case beyond doubt with a deflected closing argument that sends everybody to sleep.

70 would be very fun, would be exciting to see if they could stay up

also would be so much funnier for them to get relegated after a season of desperately trying to stay up rather than just being sent straight down

All of this just seems to be clickbait at present.
