The Woodward quote about being able to do things other clubs can only dream of worked so well didn't it?
1. The Telegraph isn't a especially reliable these days, so take the article with a pinch of salt.
2. It is common sense that any owners will want a manager to get the most of the existing players. This isn't something out of the ordinary. We will assess what he has and then put together a wish list for the summer.
3. In addition to Amad, Garnacho and Manioo, we also have Yoro and Hojlund who are promising. And the squad as a whole isn't as bad as people make out. It has just been poorly coached. I'd reserve judgement until we have seen what a decent coach can get out of the team.
4. These players have already won silverware. Why would they not be good enough to win more under a better manager?
5. We would all be delighted if he gets us back into the CL this season. It will be a tough job though. I don't expect us to be able to challenge for the title for a couple of seasons at best, but momentum can gather quickly under the right manager.
6. Why shouldn't we expect anything exciting? Right now some entertaining football would be exciting. And I think we are at least going to get that.
Couple that lot with Chelsea Jim losing £4bn of his own personal wealth
In my opinion, Ruben Amorim will get the players you have playing better, but they are not good enough to win silverware,

So 6 months after winning silverware for the 2nd consecutive season, they are not good enough to win silverware...

I can sort of see where the op is coming from tbf.
Everyone agrees that United have been sh*t for 10 years or so and have only won 5 major trophies in that 10 years. The same number as Liverpool who have dominated English football along with Man City in that time.
United have also only managed to finish above Liverpool 5 times in that 10 years.
We hear this every season. Clearly we've spent poorly over the years but whatever money we do have to spend I'm pretty certain we will spend it, it's just about spending it well and that all depends how well the new manager gets on and if everyone is behind him and on the same wavelength.

I think your squad has plenty of talent but its the mobility, energy and athleticism in so many positions that is where the manager may find it difficult to impose his style.
Ole and ETH tried over 4-5 years to evolve Utd in to an aggressive, front foot pressing team ( a modern team). It's never really come to be and may be that's the coach and may be it the players. But you cannot make Maguire, Delight, Martinez, Casemiro, Eriksen any quicker and more agile than they are. Can you get Rashford putting in the hard yards
Will be interesting to see whether he implements Amorim-ball full on or whether its adjusted to suit what he has to work with.
At Spurs we have had a lot of change of late and the worry each time is that a new man comes in, suddenly under performing players look good, only for them to remind you some time later that actually you were right, they're not good enough.
Ange said something like, to affect change, you have to change stuff. Sounds stupid but really its very right and the manager should not be scared to make tough decisions to get make change and get rid, even if the owners are preaching "use what we have and the kids". Good thing is the pressure is probably off and he has the season to assess what he has and to plan ahead.
There will be money to spend in the summer. Just not silly amounts.
We’ll have to do a lot of deals, so hopefully we can get a few young, lesser known, exciting players in for Amorim to work his magic on.
Sporting’s side is insanely young, and that isn’t by accident. I think they only have two or three players over the age of 28 in their entire squad. So likely Amorim will be very happy to take on players to develop towards Ineos’s 2018 target.
