Apart from Saka...

Trossard just isn't good when starting. Makes an impact off the bench, and that should be his role.

Martinelli is partially a confidence issue, but also the team set up. Everything is designed to go through Saka and Odegaard, so he is often isolated. The ever changing cast of Left Backs doesn't help and Merino has yet to really impact - which would help Martinelli. We aren't really playing Martinelli to his strengths and it shows.

One thing I would like us to do more, with the personnel we have, it switch it around a bit in match. Saka gets double/treble teamed on the right. Swap him and the left sided player for 5 minutes and see how the opposition react. Get Saka more central for a bit, see how that affects things. Just change things up when teams are doing a number on him.

Agree on Trossard, him starting and actually playing well is what? 1/5 starts at best?

At the moment I can't but help group Martinelli into something similar, a rotation / backup option so it feels very much like having two second-choices there sadly.

Seems like the natural next evolution for Saka is to come inside, he has shown us enough that he has the strength and quality to play tight areas and beat players.

Martinelli could also spend more time on that right flank if Saka was elsewhere, has been effective there before.

Martinelli has regressed
Kai is average at best
Jesus ain't the second coming at all😉

This is 💯% true, as is the OP.

Trossard is a squad player best used as a sub, Havertz is a squad player too offering an alternative option, Martinelli & Jesus need to be sold - I had high hopes for the latter two but that's gone, it's been years & they're never going to get to the level we need. Sterling's loan deal should be ended as soon as it can be too.

We cannot reliably score goals (except for Saka) & are having to rely on corners & hope - these players are the reason.

Sad but true...

Come on lads, bit of catastrophising here. Arsenal are a superb side and have been for a while, just didn’t click as much today and you still nearly won the game.

Not every game is champagne football, look at some of the garbage we’ve served up. I don’t understand why your club only signs defenders but I guess that’s just the mentality of your manager but a point on a disgusting (weather) away day at Fulham who are a good side is not bad.

When we need a goal we bring on Jesus who hasnt scored in 21 PL matches and take off Havertz.

Thats like " ok no more goals"

Arteta fell into the system of playing Havertz as a false 9 last season, and the change was responsible for our good finish. The league was always going to adjust, and it was obvious our attack needed to be replenished when that was going to happen.

So not buying a striker and wide player last summer was very odd.

Now let's see what Arteta will do to readjust.

I wrote this article after our first few games of the season.

I thought sterling would help, but he seemingly isn't trusted by the manager to change games for us.

At least nelson is getting game time 🤷🏽

Arteta spent £32m on Merino and he does not trust him against Fulham. What was the point?

Yep and moving our best players out of their best positions...

I think we would have been stronger against Fulham had Timber remained at RB where he was linking up really well with Saka instead of being switched to LB.

Partey then gets shifted to RB which has never worked well, we always look dire when he's there and we weakened the midfield putting a slow Jorginho up against a hard working physical midfield in a tough London derby away from home...

Why not just leave Timber at RB in his best position, leave Partey at DM/CM in his best position and play Lewis-Skelly at LB who has looked pretty good there in other games this season.

Both Merino and MLS have fitness issues, and that probably played a big part in the decisions not to use them in the starting XI - although MLS is also a kid with very limited experience, and even moreso as a full back even in youth football.

I can't help but feel that these decisions are just pure stubbornness from Arteta, he seems desperate to make his ideas that have been proven to be bad - work, even just that one time so he can feel vindicated such as Partey at RB... Even though it's to our detriment and even if it had worked against Fulham, which it didn't, it wouldn't have changed the fact that it's a rubbish idea disrupting multiple players out of their best positions and starting Jorginho.

This continual desire to pay for dipping into Chelsea's bins strikes a similar note of stubborn-stupidity to me: "We'll keep repeating the same mistake so when one signing finally works out we can say, told you so and that will make up for the 9/10 signings that were awful".

We'd rather keep digging the tunnel in the wrong direction though the Earth's core to come out right through the other side of the crust and find the light a century too late instead of stopping and turning round for the sake of pride, vanity and arrogance.

Ok, have not been keeping up with fitness news much lately, I was just assuming Myles was available.

I think when 5 first team defenders are injured you have to give the manager a bit of licence in finding a solution.

It's a fair point.

Personally though, rather than making 3 changes and moving players out of their best positions I'd have rather seen one of the two LBs that were on the bench starting at LB and Timber / Partey remaining where they have been playing well.

Oh well, at least the spudz are imploding: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwy3de1qyw4o

I think a lot of Spurs fan will agree and applaud him. Levy may not be quite as warm though
