It’s hardly abuse though, most seem to be saying it’s time for him to go which is seemingly what the manager is also saying after only being at the club for a month.

Why are some of our moronic fans so quick to constantly blame Bruno and Rashford for literally everything when we've got other players who have been way worse and contributed far less? I don't get it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you tell me, i mean pogba in his time at united was europa league player of the tournament, made pfa team of the year (first outfielder post saf to do so), and came 15th in the ballon d'or (highest placing of any utd player post-saf).

none of our other midfielders, combined, have managed a single one of those (and no, i don't count fernandes as a midfielder, but even he can't claim all of those).

yet some posters on here - you may know some of them - blamed him for everything wrong at the club bar the leaky roof.

so you tell me why the toxic element of our fanbase just loves to single out individual players, even where there are objectively worse ones at the club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Absolutely and I think you know I never once said he didn't have bags of ability. I regularly used to say what Souness said.....he has bags of ability and zero drive and heart. That was the issue.

And of course he cost us £90m to come back. That's got to be factor. Rashford didn't leave and come back so cost us nothing.

From a purely technical perspective Pogba is one of the best footballers we've signed. Didn't deliver it for us consistently but had the ability too had he had the motivation.

If me saying "I'm fed up with his performances", is 'abuse' then I better not sneeze incase someone reports me to the police.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you read his social media pages? The comments he gets are more than. Disgusting at times. They are borderline criminal and coming from United fans a lot of the time.

It's absolutely ridiculous. Never a crime to not rate a player but when players like Bruno get way more stick than players who have cost us a fortune and contributed far less I will never be on board with it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
My personal internal thinking says to me that to be an active participant on a social media platform I would be to be a self absorbed moron leaving the front door wide open to receiving abuse & criticism.

Why people bother with it I have no idea. The urge for self promotion I've always presumed. If you want to announce or promote yourself to a world of 8 billion opinions then be prepared for obsession, compliments, criticism, and abuse.

so it turns out that £90m - which we could have recouped, had we accepted barcelona's offer for him in 2018 - is the difference between "we stand by our own" and "Never disliked a Utd player as much as I do him. Absolute pansy and can't wait till he's gone. Dab your way back to Italy Paul."

I stand by what I said. He was. He cost us a world record fee and had miles more natural ability than Rashford was born with and wasted it.

Definitely some parallels though with the way Rashford has been going off the pitch. Like Pogba his image and brand has started to take more and more importance and to the detriment of his form.

You argued with me for years about Pogba. I was proven right. He left under a dark cloud and 99% of Utd fans wanting him out too. You are the 1% who clung on for something that wasn't there.

And look at what's happened since he left. Injuries, more injuries and a drugs ban. 😂

I think it’ll be best for the club and Rashford to part ways this summer. Hopefully he can get his career back on track somewhere else and we can use the funds from a sale to bring in some players more suited to the new coaches needs.

Most want him gone.

He has come out insinuating he needs a new challenge.

What’s the problem here?

Rob

Rather than die he could maybe just run a bit more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I believe him and Garnacho are averaging 10.1 and 10.2km per 90 this season. Hardly anything in it.

The perception is Garnacho runs all day and Rashford doesn't even jog.

As I said......when you go into a football game with a pre conceived opinion you choose to see and believe what you want to believe.

I don't think either player works hard enough and could definitely run more for sure. However one of them was regularly getting praised for the same amount of running per game which is hilarious. 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbh I run more than that during 90. I know because my really expensive Garmin watch tells me so.

Rashy moves around the pitch indeed, but he doesn't do it with any sort of intensity.
But why would you need to be told that over and over before finally getting it?

He's not very clever with these quotes. He has to know they will be interpreted in a particular way. I suspect the club has put him up for sale and he'll be gone in January.

Not sure where, probably Italy

A massively overhyped player (not any fault of his, but as fans we were clinging to a potentially shining light in an ocean of mediocrity) living off 2 good seasons and perhaps a half dozen memorable moments outside of those.

I’ll remember him fondly for a few moments: His PL debut vs Arsenal, retiring Demichelis, his double vs Liverpool, the PSG penalty, the Chelsea FK, the winner against Citt last season.

Beyond that, it’s unfortunately a lot of hype and false dawns. It was clear very quickly that lazy attitude wouldn’t be tolerated under Amorim.

Shifting him is gunna be difficult, one of you or Rashford (or both) will have to compromise, or it'll have to be some sort of trade deal.

Napoli is one potential option for this as they need to cut Osimhen, but even then it's problematic as Rashford's on between 50-100k/w more depending on your source.

I hope all involved enjoy a challenge

Definitely not the words of someone who expects to stay and fight for a spot in the team. Maybe Amorim and the club have spoken to him about his future at the club.

I hope he knows that no club is going to match his current wage (or anything close to it). I wonder if the club are willing to pay him off some amount to move?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The lad is nearly 20 years your junior and has achieved more than you can ever hope to. I have no idea where you get the stones to be so condescending but yes, he will be fully aware of the situation.

I don't think any Premier League player needs to heed the advice of absolute no marks who spend hours of their day obsessing over people and things they actually have no idea about what so ever.

Maybe I'm wrong, maybe he could do with visiting this site and getting some real insight from the people who really know what's going on. They're only working mundane jobs and voyeuring on his life out of choice, they could definitely work in football if they wanted to. If anything, he would actually probably thank you for flagging the salary issue, it certainly won't have crossed his mind. Maybe he should employ you as a life advisor? Your life decisions have seen you sit on a football forum for years on end, talking repeatedly about things you have no knowledge of. You could be the real game changer for his career and life.

Ruben Amorim on Marcus Rashford future: "I don’t talk about the future we talk about the present. We are better with Marcus Rashford. This kind of club needs big talents – and he is a big talent."

Ruben Amorim on Marcus Rashford's comments about needing a new challenge: "He is right. We have here a new challenge, the biggest in football, we are in a difficult situation. I hope all my players are ready."

posted on 18/12/24

Where was I condesending? He's on a huge wage that no club will match, that's a fact. Often players refuse to move because other clubs are unable to match their current wages and demand a pay off from their current clubs. I'm simply stating what could happen.

This is a football forum for fans to discuss footballing matters, there's no need for Rashford to look here, I'm not really sure what your point is.

And what do you know about my own career. I'm very fortunate to do what I do and love doing it and like to occassionaly spend time on here chatting about football.

Ruben Amorim says he will decide whether Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford will be part of the squad for Spurs after training: "If they train well we have to make a choice. I expect the best of each player every day."

Ruben Amorim: "We are better with Rashford, that is simple. We will try different things to push Marcus to the levels he showed."

There are so many fine moments than you've listed. Maybe we would remember them more with more affection if the team had been better, and more of those great contributions had been part of wins and fewer of them had been consolation goals. E.g. his opening goals away against Arsenal in the 3-2 defeat in ETH's first season was a worldie. Also a fine strike to open the scoring at City. Scored a really good opening goal against Arsenal in our defeat last season.

Again, this isn't to deny his shortcomings etc. but it's hard to deny that in a better team, and without the general air of failure and disappointment around Manchester United, the discourse would celebrate what he has given us over the years more. (And in a better team, with more coherence, better coaching, higher confidence, etc. he'd almost certainly have scored more goals and developed into a better player.)

Rashford has a very long list of fine moments in a United shirt. If and when he leaves, his YouTube back catalogue will be fantastic.

Doubt it, didn’t he go to the US the week Amorim joined during the International break?

I’m guessing he would have at least waited until meeting Amorim before making any decision to leave.
