Wolves game looks huge for Ange - he should be gone already, but lose that and surely the crowd will turn
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They are on a 2 game winning run so we probably will lose, or at least drop points to them. The only teams we can beat right now are those in absolutely crud form.
Is it any wonder he was successful in those other leagues when the standard of team is the likes of the only PL teams we can beat at the moment? The SPL is practically 10 Southamptons in a 12 team league.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
‘Tic fan in peace. Up to a point I see the argument that he had it “easy” in the SPFL, given that Celtic are better resourced than the rest of the league combined (Rangers included) … albeit he had us playing a fantastic brand of football to watch (domestically anyway). That argument doesn’t wash for his title successes in Aus and Japan though, where he was competing in much more “level playing field” leagues. So I’d argue he’s a pretty decent manager/coach, BUT with a footballing philosophy that was always likely to be found out at Prem level … maybe with ANY squad, but most definitely with the players at his disposal at Spurs. Said on here when he got the Spurs gig that I couldn’t see it working long term, and that he wouldn’t deviate from it, as much as I was hoping it might work out. From the games I’ve watched recently, sadly looks like he’s on very borrowed time now. Love the bloke for his time up North, and for his fantastic back story about how his football philosophy evolved (Puskas and all). He’s got to where he is the hard way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can sort of see how it does work in those leagues though. I mean his style against teams of a low standard means he'll pump them more often than not, like we did against Saints and City...more so than other teams (teams better than us at the moment). The defence isn't so much of an issue here.
In the PL it's different, it's a so much more challenging standard that you'll get figured out playing the same way and we've already seen it with newly promoted teams recently. Unless you have by far the best group of players in the league then you aren't going to get anywhere.
Just a reminder that lots of our fans want a manager back that had exactly the same record with Chelsea this time last year after spending over £300 million.
23 points from 18 games = Poch 23/24.
Be careful what you wish for.

He gets the first season then I think it's fair you start to see some progress in the second. We're halfway into the season and have not seen any and we weren't seeing it before all the injuries either. The form is the same as it was at the end of last season.

Our loss yesterday didn't even have anything to do with not having Vic, VDV or Romero. We had all the possession and couldn't even threaten their goal. Nuno organised his defence to stifle us and hit us on the break. That was his plan and it worked well, and we've seen it before from other managers. Ange got out-coached and had no answers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurs were pretty toothless yesterday, and were basically mugged by an incredibly average Forest, who sit 3rd in the Prem. I saw very little effort from any of the team, Solanke aside. And therein lies the problem. Far to many players happy to just amble around.
Wolves will almost certainly do a job on Spurs on Sunday, because they will basically work harder than any Spurs player. Matt Doherty will have Son in his pocket all match.

Spurtle, just for the record how do you think any new manager is going to make the Spurs defence watertight when they come up against Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal in January given it will probably be a reserve team goalie, two out of form full backs and Gray and Dorrington as the CBs? Or am I missing something?

They might not be able to turn a switch as soon as they come but better to start afresh with a manager you'd be more confident in than one who you're midway into a project with you are not. They could offer new ideas, a new voice, different tactics, different man management. Of course we want to try choosing one that will still want to play attractive football, just with better in game management and more flexibility.
What about a manager getting more against teams we should be able to get something out of? Cause we've struggled against those as well.

Well there are no guarantees in appointing anyone are there? Not that Amorim should be written off or anything.
I just don't really get the sense in keeping someone around for the sake of it though when it isn't working. That's why you try and replace, to see if somebody can do better. The fact is he won't have done anything to warrant keeping around. If he had credit in the bank I'd understand it. And if, as some are suspecting, his training methods are actually causing more injuries then that's a pretty significant reason to get rid right now. How is that situation going to get any better?

Why mate he has not developed a single player why would he need more windows?
Conte had 3 windows all together yet got us champions league football.
Poch never had us below fifth and semis champions league final
Jose got us to a final.
We have a league one manager and it is embarrasing.
Every manager needs time to implement their philosophy. At other clubs this could one or maybe two years. We are Tottenham. There is no overnight fix.
Patience.

None of those managers had their best goalie and all four CBs injured at the same time. Plus injuries and suspensions littered throughout the rest of the squad.
I doubt Ange will survive. But no manager in Spurs history has had to contend with an injury list that Ange has had practically since the day he entered WHL.

I hope we can get the wins but I’m not confident.

Out of interest when a club starts a complete rebuild how long do you expect to give said manager?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He gets the first season then I think it's fair you start to see some progress in the second. We're halfway into the season and have not seen any and we weren't seeing it before all the injuries either. The form is the same as it was at the end of last season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Spurtle, just for the record how do you think any new manager is going to make the Spurs defence watertight when they come up against Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal in January given it will probably be a reserve team goalie, two out of form full backs and Gray and Dorrington as the CBs? Or am I missing something?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They might not be able to turn a switch as soon as they come but better to start afresh with a manager you'd be more confident in than one who you're midway into a project with you are not. They could offer new ideas, a new voice, different tactics, different man management. Of course we want to try choosing one that will still want to play attractive football, just with better in game management and more flexibility.
What about a manager getting more against teams we should be able to get something out of? Cause we've struggled against those as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like United appointing Amoren then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well there are no guarantees in appointing anyone are there? Not that Amorim should be written off or anything.
I just don't really get the sense in keeping someone around for the sake of it though when it isn't working. That's why you try and replace, to see if somebody can do better. The fact is he won't have done anything to warrant keeping around. If he had credit in the bank I'd understand it. And if, as some are suspecting, his training methods are actually causing more injuries then that's a pretty significant reason to get rid right now. How is that situation going to get any better?

Just a reminder that lots of our fans want a manager back that had exactly the same record with Chelsea this time last year after spending over £300 million.
23 points from 18 games = Poch 23/24.
Be careful what you wish for.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What about the second part of the season, Sandy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well we haven't got to the 2nd part of this season. So prefer just to match up both managers 1st halves. Ange may yet still win a cup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I meant the second half of Chelsea’s season last year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes they finished behind Spurs, who apparently had a shocking season. So I don't get your point?

6 Windows.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why mate he has not developed a single player why would he need more windows?

Ange needs a couple of wins or else Levy may well put him out of his misery especially if the atmosphere turns toxic in home games.
I hope we can get the wins but I’m not confident.
