A better performance and could have taken a point with better finishing.
Not helped by the performance of Michael Oliver.
Think this was the worst game I have seen him officiate.
Totally inconsistent and seemed reluctant to book any player for Man city.
He has turned into another Mike Dean,in a few seasons he has gone from being one of the best refs to one of the worst.
Inconsistent and incompetent.

Man City committed 6 fouls, non of which were worthy of a card.

Well despite all the gloom and doom on here, that wasn’t too bad a performance. We were the better side for much of the game and were unfortunate with some of our opportunities, hitting the woodwork twice. The Vardy chance which he volleyed over might have had more success with a headed effort. El Khannouss, Soumare and Buonanotte all had good games. I think Hermanson would have either caught Foden’s effort or palmed round for a corner. Savinho wide open though, Justin nowhere near him. Surprise surprise. Nonetheless, a promising performance overall. Now we’ve got an assistant manager with Man City experience, I expect things to improve and with a decent transfer window, I expect us to finish outside the relegation zone. Prior to the last two games, I would have said we were nailed on for 19th or 20th.

If you expect us to finish outside the relegation zone based on 1 January window to fix a whole back 4 then given the track record of our recruitment Warwick I think you’re going to be disappointed.

Not sure about that 98. After all we’ve now got an accomplished guy working with RVN, which is already starting to bear fruit. He is particularly adept at bringing on young talent so I expect more involvement with the likes of Jayden Joseph in place of Justin, with Henry Cartwright, Jeremy Monga and Will Alves getting more experience.
You have to agree that the last two performances have been a definite improvement.

Yes they have but this isn’t a project - he doesn’t have time to be building a team around youth. I know that’s not what you’re suggesting - it’s just that the last thing we need is to be throwing inexperienced kids into a relegation dogfight.

What we need are quality players that Ruud can work with - and he doesn’t have it. That’s why despite the improvements in performances the return has been exactly the same

Unless he goes out and signs mid table PL level full backs and a centre back - then all you’ll see are positive performances with zero points because we keep making basic errors

We look exactly the same as previous relegations I’ve witnessed. We aren’t good enough and we need an unbelievable January to turn that around - in fact within a couple of games the gap could already be too large

I couldn't go to the Wolves horror show (thankfully) so the last couple of games feel like a big improvement on that at least. I was quite impressed by today's performance in particular so can understand a slightly more optimistic outlook from OWF. On another day we could have got something from that game.

I raise two points about the glass half full approach at this stage of the season. Firstly, you are expecting us to attract some quality defensive players to fix the defence - it stands to reason that if we continue leaking goals at our current rate we're doomed; the issue with that is of course the Rudkin factor, allied to us (not) being able to identify/afford someone appropriate.

The second point is just exactly which teams do you anticipate being below us? Obviously Southampton and Ipswich but who else? The others all look in a better position than us at the moment, and if any of them struggle from here on they would be stupid (as we were) to ignore the Moyes shaped elephant in the room to get them out of trouble?

Seriously? They are already 9 points ahead of us so it would take a serious slide down the table to drop below us. Remember that they and the others down in the lower reaches of the division can also strengthen in January. It's looking bleak but at least we've got to the half way point in the season and we're still in with a shout.

I feel sorry for our managers, it must feel like trying to win a boxing match with your second (Rudders) suggesting it would be a good idea to fight with one arm tied behind your back.

Looking at the betting, we're nowhere near the next club - Wolves - who are around 3/1 odds; we're around 1/3, about the same as Ipswich. It's clear who the bookies reckon are going down with Southampton (at 1/33). Hammers are 33/1 btw. Incredibly after Everton at around the same odds as Wolves, their next most likely to go down are Man City (12/1). Presumably because they reckon the Mancs might just get a swingeing points deduction or relegation for breaching PSR?

Tonto (this charming fan) is a Forest troll. Pops his head on here when Forest are doing well and Leicester aren’t (which explains why before this season we’ve barely seen him for the past 8 years).

Used to regularly troll the board bleating on about our trophy cabinet - which funnily enough stopped when we won the PL and FA cup in the space of 6 years.

The only thing we have in common is our mutual dislike of Derby fans (particularly igor). Other than that he’s an absolute bell, Dubs - just filter him mate cos he’s gonna be all over these match threads for the rest of the season

I've had the feeling that Ipswich might make a fist of it. Their striker Liam Delap whom they picked up from Man Cty doing well now.
If we could somehow get a solid right FB plus CB and winger (asking a lot from a club with little money) we can give ourselves a decent chance, we're not yet totally cut adrift.

'If we could somehow get a solid right FB plus CB and winger'
Only a one word response is needed to that fantasy scenario - 'Rudkin'.

In addition, what about an adequate back up striker?
