I do wonder if we've recruited too many for the RW position where Jackson, NML and Harness are all best suited. At Ipswich Jackson played more as a CF and perhaps he and Viking could be and option ? LW has been the weakness as other than CBT we don't really have an ideal alternative. Kent would meet that requirement, just a question of whether his personality suits the dressing room? Does come across as a bit of difficult personality. The ex-Fernabache coach left him out of his squad and Mourinho had omitted him completely from the squad too.
The absence of a debrief of the transfer window makes you wonder. Local journalists either know nothing or are keeping their mouths shut.
Maybe DC is keeping his powder dry, holding back after the earlier outlay on Vikings to see what transpires and then, if needs really must, loading and then pulling the trigger as desperation takes hold. By then it could be too late. At this stage, re PW, I think that whatever DC does will be seen to be wrong. I do not envy DC one bit.
For those that didn't listen to RD.
They went through a few different scenarios:
* Have asked Mark Thomas for interviews
* Other than PW others should be held accountable
* Had all month to finalise players
* Same insipid transfer activity around deadline
* Expect PW to address media on Thursday and run through transfer window
* Addressed that selling Cashin has meant other clubs have increased their asking price.
I do often go back ( sliding doors ) and wonder what if Clowes opted to give Rosenior the time. He'd have two seasons in L1 to get promoted and the knack to pull a different type of player to the club due to his personality. Had we got promoted who would he have managed to attract to the club instead of PW?
Would they have been the same level, better or worse?
I really would have liked to have seen what he could have done but Clowes opted a different route. Whether it's finances dictated or as a loyal chairman giving HIS man the time to get it right, we'll have to see. We still have time to get this right but boy it's getting rather squeaky. I really don't want to have to go through that Derby vs Sheffield Weds scenario last day of the season.
We do look woeful at present but it takes one little thing to click and performances to switch. Look at QPR, beginning of the season up to match 10-12 I think they looked relegation certs. Dug deep, kept faith in their manager and are almost safe from relegation.
Bar stewards!
We bought CBT as an injury prone left wing. So PW played him at right wingback and not surprisingly gets injured again……madness.
Vidal I thought we’d agreed that 3 centre halves don’t work. If in doubt look at us and Manchester United, not to mention our next manager Super Malcomb Christie.
All I want now is to stay in this division. The thought of another sojourn in League One - well it's unthinkable. I don't care how we may do it now. If it means a nail-biting slog under PW so be it.
My biggest fear is IF we go down it'll take much longer to come back up.
I don’t think we ever agree on much VC, but in this case I’m just saying what I think Warne might do. I would be surprised if Langas doesn’t play, given what he cost, and I would be surprised if he left out Phillips or Clarke.
A back 3 has been successful for many Italian teams, less so in England though a long time ago Arsenal dominated with Adams, Bould and Keown. I suppose it helps having a Bergkamp in your team. Tuchel has preferred it so we will see how England line up with him in charge.
I’m not advocating it necessarily for us. In the end any system is only as good as the players implementing it.
Spot on Vidal. Our 3 centre backs now are totally different to what we've had before so who knows. Although Langz can play RB as well I understand.
Yes I wondered about that too. That would mean Nyambe as a sub. 4-3-3 with Wilson when fit and NML or Harness as the wide players? That leaves the Viking a bit isolated. A 4-4-2 would surely only be an option if Adams and Ozoh are the midfield pair which means no place for Kenzo. That’s why I think with the players he has available Warne will go with the back three. It also gets most of his tall players on the pitch which he might think gives us a better chance of a set-piece goal, possibly our best hope of getting the ball into the net.

Conte won the title with Chelsea using it. But had wing backs and wingers (5-2-3)
Just how many times did CBT play at RW?

Dunno Jorv, I can't speak for others.
I dont think he is a particularly good WB, left or right. 🤔
Anyway, what an exciting second half of the season with what is effectively a brand new starting lineup. I just hope that some of them understand the demands of inverted play. Here we go!

I'll tell you why, last season M-L was played at RWB and got knackered because he had to do too much.
This year the delicate CBT got put out of his position to RWB and got injured again. Why would a manager play these players in positions where they are unsuited?
