The £70m bid for Guehi is such a "we tried" move from Levy. As if they were ever going to sell to us so late on. But it will look like we put in an effort with a record breaking bid before going for our intended target all along, Disasi.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How much chance would we have of making a signing if we didnt bid
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you miss my point. What about bidding a lot earlier, if we were that interested? Interested enough to stump up a record amount for this club.

Levy knows what he's doing and probably knows full well it will get rejected. But it's a good look to his followers I guess.

Indeed a good point, but also, Dragusin did his knee what, on Thursday. I think we have been looking for a CB (Danso) and now the need is greater.

One impression i get is that we are indecisive. Feels like we have lots of options but struggle to settle on one. We have seen moves for Disasi b4 this guehi bid and after Danso signing so it looks like we're looking at all options - long term, stop gap, loan, buy etc

If Disasi was a stop gap target and he doesnt want to come, then may be we went for a our long term target, trying to get in there before the summer when there will be other suitors with money.

NUFC bid for him in the summer and failed at 65m. Interesting they havent come back in for him since.

I just dont think of it as being last minute.com (although i know we do this sometimes), nor that its just for show.

Tel - meh, another teenager, not the finished article and looks bang average in front of goal.

A straight loan with no option is a pony deal and reeks of Levy desperation. Why should we develop a player and have no option to sign him permanently.

Another body I suppose but I doubt he will set the world on fire.

Levy out.

The standard and sky both reporting that an option to buy has been included. Good deal that.

The buy option was a piece of pizz as Bayern wanted to flog him to us anyway.

The problem was and still remains that Tel doesn’t want to join permanently

It feels very out of the blue though doesn't it? And different to our other attempts at signing players this window. I mean loan deals or cheap signings, then suddenly breaking our own transfer record for an established CB? Just a hopeless punt really and I think one Levy suspected wouldn't be agreed to.

He's much better than Drag is and would rival Romero for his position. Maybe we're expecting Romero to be leaving us some time in the near future?

So yeah, if it was that serious we should have gone for him a while back.

6yr deal agreed as part of it according to ornstein if we make permanent.

Sky were saying that he didn't reject us initially he was 'assessing his options'.

still considering the options on the market it's one of the better ones, with our eague position. Its a very low risk, if he does badly we don't keep him and we lose 5mil loan fee.

We were being linked with Leon baily and the likes so this seems a better option. I've not seen much of him but he's highly regarded in the game.

Straight loan a little underwhelming but great bomba this afternoonbadly needed forward and hopefully see less of Richarlison up front as Tel is a proper striker. Excited.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
By all Accounts of this off an d on loan agreement, Tel is a total twerp. God knows what any manager will do with him....which is probably why Bayern did an about face and said he could leave.
He could well prove to be a disruptive player to have in our squad......maybe have been better if ManU got him!
