Romero, where is he?

Well he got injured straight away after being rushed back last time, so whether you buy it or not, simple logic indicates they're being more sensible about easing him back

I heard something about Micky needing surgery. Not true I hope.

No clue Re Romero... I suspect he's off to Spain this summer. He acts as though Spurs are beneath him and his comments Re Levy & the club probably sealed his fate.

VDV is worrying, bringing him back for 45 mins Vs Elfsborg was pretty stupid but we've been here with him before.. Fongers crossed its nothing serious with Drag now done for the season with an ACL.

Curious to see if anyone of the new signings get minutes on Thurs ? I suspect we'll see Tel.. I can't see Richy worrying VDV

Why was playing VDV for 45 mins "pretty stupid"?

For crying out loud, he has to be played at some point after full recovery! I thought 45 mins was a good idea. You would have justification to moan if Ange had played him for 60/70 mins or the whole game.

Yeh he has to start at some time. Cannot keep wrapping players in cotton wool for ever.

I said on another post something wasn't right but I do think it was physical. He was pictured training before Mickey came back and was suspected to be back before Mickey. He's now been in the gym since, so something not quite right with him. I was hoping we may see him on the bench tomorrow.

In terms of Ange being the issue I'm sure he had threatened to leave is Ange is sacked and is fully behind him to don't think it's that.

Slapping in 70mil for Guehi though certainly seems like we are planning for a future without him.

That's what I think regarding the Guehi bid. I mean even though there's a lot of Levy posturing that "we tried" in that bid, there must be a part of us wanting it to come off and there was very slim chance it could have. In which case he would have likely replaced Romero when all are fit and available.

It surely couldn't have just been for depth since we already signed Danso?

45m in what was almost a testimonial paced game was perfect . Better than tossing him in vs Brentford Liverpool Villa for a first run out.

Reports were he didn't feel 100%:at the weekend so wasn't risked. Had a weeks training since. Well know more in Ange presser tomorrow.

Romero, I reckon he's relapsed and its kept quiet through the window.

He criticized Levy which means he will likely be sold this summer

Wasn’t the Geuhi bid before Danso but just reported later ?

Danso was instead of Geuhi I thought

Romero needs game time if he's going to attract an offer from Real Madrid.
So if he's not in training something is wrong.
Can anyone answer Sandy's question?

Was it? Well if that's so, bit of an odd alternative. From a record £70m bid for an established England international to a loan signing for a player many wouldn't have even heard of. I just somehow doubt we were never that serious about Guehi.

Danso is also an established international…albeit for Austria

I remember him from the euros ….powerful bloke

Our recent big money buys haven’t really panned out , Solanke aside as I think he is worth every penny

Our more conservative buys seem to end up the best ….im quietly optimistic that he will turn out to be a very good buy

this is based on nothing concrete.

I reckon Romero is facked, and I reckon VDV needs surgery, or has majorly relapsed, and the club purposely have kept it very quiet to not hamper our bargaining position in the market

lack of Romero even though he was ahead of VDV + VDV not being in the squad Sunday and Ange being cagey about the question + a very unspurslike bid of £70m for a CB in January leads me down this path.

I think the reality is Danso Gray and Davies are our 3 CBs for the rest of the season, so they better stay fit

That's true about our conservative buys compared to our more expensive signings, it does seem that way. I would say in general that our recruitment has been decent the last few years, so I'm more optimistic about lesser known players now than I was back under Poch, when we were raiding the French league for N'Somebody. Although I wasn't familiar with Drag before we got him and he hasn't been the best. I hope Danso will be better.

I also meant 'ever', not 'never' serious about Guehi.

That does appear like some hopeless attempt at a signing, while still giving off the impression Levy meant business (to those of us who aren't wise to the way he operates).

They better stay good as well. Without VDV and Romero back I don't have as much hope that Ange can make a successful turnaround of our season. But on the flip side, Spence has looked great since coming into the side and we have two new additions in Danso and Tel, who are unknown quantities for us at this stage. Could be big successes and help such a turnaround.
