I feel horrible saying this, but Bentancur is the most overrated player in our midfield that we have. Yea he can be neat and tidy but I honestly think he is really poor.

That said, no one can really hold their head high at the moment

He's definitely not the same player after those big injuries.

Don't think he can do it consistently in the PL now.

Maybe a move to La Liga would suit him best.

Bentancur was a top midfielder before his knee injury, unfortunately he has been Sandro`d and is no longer good enough, needs selling and replacing.

Bissouma is a liability, makes too many basic errors and needs upgrading

Maddison needs to be used with two mobile runners alongside him

Sarr is our most mobile midfielder, probably needs to play just one game a week to get the best out of him

Bergvall is just 19 and still learning, has great potential, needs to be used properly and developed further.

We definitely need a couple of upgrades in midfield this summer, but we probably won`t get them under the misery of Levy & ENIC.

Gray am afraid not ready to hold a place down in midfield. Haven’t seen anything yet in his game to tell me he is ready to dominate our midfield.

We keep being reminded he is not playing in his natural position but he wasn’t a regular in midfield for Leeds either! What makes anyone think a wet behind the ears , inexperienced 18 year old who has barely played in his favoured position is now ready to dominate our midfield and hold down a place. Dont get it.

Not sure anyone is saying Gray will dominate midfield at 18 years. But it is his favoured position. So needs to be there rather than at the back.

But is he ready and more importantly good enough? You very rarely see 18 yr olds holding down a place in this position in top teams. A cameo here and there I agree . Let’s see what he is made off.

Gray is going to be a top class midfielder and future captain material, his composure in a variety of positions at such a young age is remarkable. I can`t remember any basic errors or glaring mistakes and you barely notice him, he goes about his business with ease and little fuss.

Contrast that with error prone team mates who shiete their pants in possession and make basic errors with too much regularity.

Bissouma needs to be nowhere near the team. Completely unreliable player.

In the main I agree with this.

Personally I’d sell Bissouma and Maddison and buy Morgan gibbs white.

Jamie Donley deserves a serious look at next season, that'd save a few sheckles for the board

Perhaps Maddison, Sarr, and An Other?
Bisssouma is a waste of space.
So....make your choice from what's left or a new guy.

I am not convinced the midfield are poor it is the tactics and formation we play. Bentancur and Biss are much better than they are showing.

If we keep it as is now i would have a midfield of Biss/Sarr/Kulu in the deeper position.

Big fan of Bergvall but he is nowhere near at the minute, so far off of the pace. The eye test i really like his positioning he picks up but his stats are not good and he looks like a kid in the playground chasing the ball. Donley was a better option but that is a different conversation.

So a player needs to be coached to put in a bit of effort and run around a bit? That should be a given.

No, that’s not what I said. A player needs to be coached properly so that the can play to his full potential come match day. Not just “running around a bit”. You’ve been watching football for 60+ years so I’m surprised that you still haven’t grasped this yet.

But that's just it modern football is 80 per cent about running for 90 minutes. You don't actually have to that good at football. Just as long as you can be like an athlete for the 90 minutes.

This is utter nonsense, modern football is more about systems and tactics than ever before.

Technique, ball control and all round skill are absolutely crucial in the modern game. This comes partly from natural talent, but mostly from thousands of hours of coaching.

Of course it is. It’s a load of crap. Otherwise Usain Bolt would be playing in Saudi Arabia on a £1mn a week tax free. Why do teams have tactical coaches of all they need to do is run?

If this is the case, why are you saying that Tel isn’t very good on the match thread? He’s athletic and can run so…
