Further to Rosso's post, what motive would the Glazers have for taking the risk of putting out false information in a filing? They have a controlling interest in the business, so are within their rights to select the bid they deem most attractive - no need to conceal alternatives from shareholders. Suppressing information about a credible rival offer would furthermore be counterproductive to driving the price higher. The last thing the Glazers wanted was an auction with one bidder. As for PR reasons, firstly the Glazers have consistently shown themselves to be indifferent to fans' views; secondly, the fan base was quite divided about the two potential bids, so there's no obvious gain in misleading the world that Qatar wasn't viable.
