Just book anyone on the either team surrounding the ref, a couple of games with yellows turning to reds would soon stop it happening.
Just give the refs some pepper spray.
There are too many fragile egos reffing these games who walk around with a "how dare you question my authority" attitude for that to work. Just book them all.
Smear the ref in dogsh!t before the game.
Not really sure how to answer the question in the op though...
Automatic booking for dissent. Automatic red for swearing.
There’s no reason football couldn’t implement that but the authorities choose not to.
So we have a situation where kids repeat what they see on the TV and no one has any respect for officials.
It’s ridiculous.

Idk the yellow card for too much dissent has been a thing but poorly kept up by the refs.
If the players wanna row against the decision, I think the ref saying to them "well now my decision will definitely stand because youre rowing with me" will put them off.
There are already rules for this which work, certainly in the PL. If UEFA introduced a rule allowing the captain to speak to the referee like they have in the PL it would enable this to work even better. Yellow for any kind of arguing and a red for anything that’s aggressive, ie swearing at the referee.
Tonight’s referee in the United game was a nutter. Game was contested fairly in the most part with no bad challenges and yet he handed out nine yellows and a red. Red was borderline but probably justified for me but most of the yellows were pointless.
refureez shud halve huge 5 feets sharpen spikes stickin out in all direcshunz too prevent players frumb gettin in there faece
Just have the captain speak to the ref.
Maybe a sin bin for dissent if the ref does get verbally abused. Works ok in grassroots
Example: Just now we saw Sociedad protesting against our second pen.. ultimately VAR could have said nah not a pen, but what if the ref has the power to overrule a VAR decision he's stopped play or, if the opposing players swarm and protest and show disrespect toward him?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The ref DOES have the power to overrule a VAR interpretation. Not a technical decision, only the interpreted decisions.
I think the refs allow the swarming when waiting for a VAR ruling because they know it is pointless and not wasting time at that point.
The Madrid derby this week the ref was letting all the galacticos have their say and fluttering his eyelashes. Sickening.
