Chelsea signing players 18 months in advance now? Whatever you say about them....nobody can call them dull and predictable in the market.

Ah well we move on. Plenty of fish in the sea.

“Wasn’t we heavily linked to this bloke?”

Yep; every day for months by the Portuguese press. They were pretty certain he was coming to us in the summer.

Whether on the club or the player’s side, I strongly suspect that we’ve been gazumped.

I did wonder how high we’d go with our offers considering the financial mire we’re in. €50m+ is a lot of money for a 17 year old.

Oooh shiiiit our scouts and new recruitment team might have to do their job now we can’t just pick previous Amorim players for the positions we need.

I'd happily see Amad playing there in all honesty. Think he's just as, if not more, effective there.

Amad is no slouch, but I think Dorgu gives us a hint of the elite physicality that Amorim ideally wants from his wing backs.

Yep. I like Amad at LWB; but for Amorim, he’s the Trincão and we still need a powerful RWB.

Dalot is there!

Dorgu was sloppy with some passing at times but his physicality and the manner in which he was appearing so quickly and readily at both ends of the pitch was night and day from what we’ve seen from from our wingback options so far.

Do we have 50m to spend on one player when we need about 5-6?

I'm fairly sure this is a big reason. Makes absolutely no sense in our financial situation. If we have enough.oney to go big on just one player then it needs to be a number 9.

A few clubs sniffing round Dalot if the rumours are to be believed, and I can see him being one we cash in on in the summer to help pay for the rebuild.

I'm sure Amorim would like to keep him in the squad, not least because he's virtually always available and highly versatile; but if we got an offer of £40m plus for him, it'd be hard to say no I think.

I quite like Dalot and think he's unfairly treated at times. We could do better though I suppose.

I was thinking Amad more ar RWB just because I think we need to perhaps spend elsewhere first.

Having said that although Dorgu still looks raw his physicality is a big asset and he is looking to get the ball in the box. If we can refine him he should be a fine player for us.

We already have Dalot. I don't think a big fast wingback with some skills is that hard to find. I know I sound flimsy but I think it can be sorted out. We just need some money.

Lamptey from Brighton worth a punt? Out of contract in the summer (although Brighton may have a 1 yr option).

The flip side of the disappointment at missing out on Quenda is bewilderment at Chelsea stockpiling even more wingers. I believe they have another couple arriving this summer based on deals struck a year ago. Is the football club now simply a wing of a player trading organisation?

Yeah we’re getting closer to that 50 man squad. Still haven’t signed a striker though. 🤦‍♀️

In a word, yes.

I find it a little bizarre that so many young players are signing up for it, tbh, particularly given how it seems to be working out for some of those who have gone before.

I can only assume that the wages they're offering are more than decent and that they're attracted by the security that the seven/eight year contracts offer.

Maybe INEOS is playing 3D chess with the intention of taking Quenda on loan from Chelsea, while covering only half of his wages.

Why on earth would Chelsea conduct a medical now for a player not joining for another 16 months?
