Apart from the offside goal & the pen
Not out of the woods yet but this is some heroic battling football here.

Finally getting a few breaks
Well at half time i couldnt see where a goal would come from in a game of few chances. Preston for me were a good team and to win was commendable. But after what seemed a dodgy first 15 mins we imposed ourselves on the game without being flashy.
4 on the trot seems unbelieveable now but we are seemingly and hopefully on a roll.
It would be unfair to single out individual as to a man they all played their part. Cheers. Terry. UTR 🐏🐏🐏🐏
We were a 75% chance to get relegated before we won our first of these last four.
I wonder what the odds are now?

Always said Preston are a great side …
After a quiet and tentative start we settled well and gradually took control although as Terry said, we did not look particularly threatening until the start of the second half when Elder took hold of the game and started putting in good crosses or long throws which Preston just could not cope with.
Things looked ominous when Nyambe was forced off in the second minute and moments later Elder went down in obvious distress. Very fortunately he was able to continue and go on, justifiably, to win MOM. Armstrong continues to defy his tender years and Yates and Harness worked tirelessly. The back three were excellent while Wilson did OK without his usual right-wing raids. Thommo was very effective and only Ebou fell below his usual standards. But I think it's important to stress how well JWZ performed. He was not called into making saves but his anticipation and handling were superb.
We will be without Yates at Swansea so selection will be interesting. A point there would be quite something as they were excellent at Leeds recently.
Cheers Chicago.
Who would be the replacement pick for Yates vs Swans?
Jackson, I expect. (cue Scouse)

I'm probably predicting 0-0, Desi, just to give you an early heads-up
What an amazing turn of events we have witnessed with these last four games. Again we made decent opposition look toothless and found a way to bag a couple. We aren’t playing great football by any stretch but it’s simply effective.
Defence outstanding after Nyambe’s early mistake which left him injured, maybe for the rest of the season. Stretch gets more confident by the game. I agree Ebou was off it today. Eust has found a niche for Tommo that gets the best out of him and almost hides his failings. And Fozzy....Fozzy....what a man.
3 more wins might do it. I don’t really want it to have to be the final three though.
Whoops! we did it again and the vintage Sexton takes another battering.
I'm still not sure what the future holds - no-one does - but leaving the ground last night after a turgid and stodgy match apart from two flashes of effective effectiveness - there was a buzz which I have not seen for a while.
Most pleasing and I'm so happy for Fozzie, if he could control a ball and score like a striker, he would have missed last night.
Nyambe has injured his .................................. hamstring!
While I can access headlines in the Telegraph (formerly Daily T) I cannot read the articles themselves.
I saw a headline a couple of days ago suggesting an explanation of why Arsenal have had so many hamstring injuries. It should be interesting reading. If any of you can access this and regurgitate it it may help explain all those DCFC hamstring injuries.
There's been several conversations on Arsenal's injuries and the rise of hamstring injuries in football in general.
The major problem is with the relentless schedule, in which big clubs routinely play at weekends and then again in midweek, players do not have time to train and strengthen their muscles . In those busiest periods of the season, footballers are either playing matches or recovering from matches.
The increase in matches AND the fact games are now longer are having an impact on players bodies.
I think the issues surrounding our club are a combination of the above, requiring better fitness coaches and the ground.
One of our fitness coaches I learned recently is an Australian named Nathan Plaskett. Thirty years of age with the bulk of his experience in the Aussie leagues. I'd say you'd need experienced heads coaching at this level and with the steady increase of match time the cool down exercises need to be tailored per player.
Our pitch, recently given a lick of paint to make it look more visually appealing after recent criticism has done little to improve the quality of the pitch. We're currently winning on it so no point tweaking too much. But there does seem to be a problem with our mud bath. I remember when I lived and worked in Derby I got the opportunity to play at Pride Park twice and the first time injured my hammy's in record time ( like Nyambe!) It was a really hard, muddy pitch without the correct warm ups/ cool downs must be causing issues.
Many thanks Desi - interesting stuff esp re more extra time at the "end" of games.
There is clearly an issue for players which needs addressing but who is competent enough to do it these days?

Money is at the root of football these days and players are commodoties that are "owned" by the clubs ...hence these players are pushed and pushed to produce more and more...but of course like a machine they will break down from time to time...i can never remember a season like this for injuries and Warney's term of players "gassing out" is (probably) at the root of it....Cheers. Terry.
