Long overdue. The victims of these crimes have been hurt by Celtic PLC for decades due to their lawyers denying responsibility. Hope the watchest has been drained to pay the compensation
About time.
I'm expecting us to release a decent statement once the remainder of the cases have been settled acknowledging at least some responsibility for what these kids went through.
minefield for those in charge at the club, i have great sympathy for the victims but i think people are guilty of these actions not football clubs.
i hope the club is offering to help with any therapy they may require to live with the horrors they suffered.
All you can hope at this stage is it gives closure to the victims and families.
As for Celtics lawyers, they do have a job to do at the end of the day but perhaps a few too many attempts at legal loopholes and tricks as was entirely necessary.
Glad it is all finally being settled....and this is not a dig btw, and the club likely had nothing to do with it, but the news breaking on the morning of April Fools Day...no the best like

Is it not the case that the club is effectively paying damages for not safeguarding the children or investigating when it was made known.
In that sense the club is guilty.
well it goes back to that doesnt it, who didn't safeguard the children? people.
not the people in charge now, they get smeared with this which i think is quite unfair.
i'm all for victims getting closure, support, and if a cash settlement brings them some form of comfort then thats great, i just find it a bit unfair on those who had nothing to do with it.
In Celtics case it's not that it happened, you can never 100% no matter how good your safeguarding processes are. The first time a person commits that crime is 100% on the perpetrator.
It's about when should you have known and what did you do at that point.
It's that it was allowed to continue for decades.

To be fair, it’s not the club that released it. It’s the solicitors that have done that.

As true as this is, the club were aware of it occurring and re-employed the people committing the offences so they definitely hold some liability.

Nobody is blaming the current ownership or management but the company is still liable given it allowed this to happen as an organisation.
The current lot of senior management at banks/financing firms will undoubtedly be different to those 15 years ago but they're companies are still on the hook for (potentially) billions because they allowed illegal practices to occur when issuing car loans years ago.
Nobody is saying the current ownership have any culpability but the club/company absolutely does.
Glad it is getting sorted
Some will continue to just aye bit and point at Celtic
JFK is spot on, people are to blame. Celtic as an institution own the restitution. Not one person at Celtic now was there then.
For once I agree with the Scottish Tory leader. This now needs to be extended across all of Scottish sports. All victims should be supported

No but have barely messaged him in recent months since CS Jnr moved clubs
Hmmm
My take. Yes people committed the offences but the club were complicit in the cover up and not acting as they should have when they first became aware of these offences.
Further exacerbated by drawing out the legal process on some perceived and wholly inaccurate “defence”. There comes an obvious time in all these corporate challenges where you just hold your hand up and settle. As a club we failed to recognise that time and drew out both the scandal and the suffering.
