I have no doubt that if we had finished just a fraction of the chances we have missed we would be sitting around the top six.

Going back as far as October where we should have been 4-0 up at half time against West Ham and missed a shed load of chances all game we followed this predictable pattern of failing to score and therefore losing the games.

Hafi has been right all along.

Don't let Hafi see this 😅

Hafi had the foresight to predict our woes. 😂

Defensively we are very similar to teams competing for CL places. Attacking wise we are we deserve to be. They just aren't good enough and the sooner we rip it up and start again the sooner we can become a better team again.

I don't see any point in persisting with Hojlund and Zirkzee because they are still relatively young as is the excuse being thrown out. They are miles off the standard we need let's be honest.

I think we'll keep Hojlund even if it's just not to lose out on PSR. I also think there could be a player in there as well as he does seem quick and strong enough for the PL.

I do like watching Zirkzee but he's not an obvious fit for this team I don't think. I wonder, if his stock in Italy is still high, we could use him in a swap for Osimhen?

Are you just looking at goals conceded and saying that's how good we are defensively?

By that logic you are saying that us losing 1-0 loads of times is the same as a top 4 team winning 2-1 loads of times.

If we can't score, the opposition doesn't need to score many to win.

I think we should let him go back to Italy if we can.

Not only does he not score goals or create them but he looks too slow for this league. Some nice touches here and there is nowhere near enough.

Of the 3 who played up top last night over the 90 mins......Garnancho is the one I'd least like to sell but even with him I don't feel like we are selling a world beater. He's got some nice things to admire about his game but he's also lacking badly in others. I think £50-55m would be a good deal for us and I'd take it.

If we got a good offer for Zirkzee, it wouldn't bother me if we let him go, but it depends if we manage to bring someone in.

I think the confidence factor within the team is key - it doesn't take much for this team to lose confidence, and it's so well known that we struggle for goals - in such a narrative, whilst we want our players to be mentally tough, I guess it's tough to get out of the mindset of we don't score many goals, and how it can affect you on the pitch.

The other factor, which is the main one for me, is that these forwards haven't been surrounded by top seasoned pros who can show them the ropes. Of course you eventually have to stand on your own 2 feet, but we seem to have expected all our players to act as if they are seasoned pros from the moment they are late teens / early 20s - that is very difficult, even for the players who turn out to be the very best.

It may be that we don't have the likes of a Ronaldo / Rooney / Giggs / Beckham etc etc amongst our young players (not just forwards), but look at all the great established players they had around them.

Look at ours, and it's only Bruno who in the last 5 years or so can say, yep, I'm performed pretty well and showed the others what can be achieved.

I was hoping the likes of Maguire, Case, Eriksen, even Rashford, who is not a young player, could have done this, but they don't play regularly enough at a high enough standard to set that type of standard.

This is especially so in the forwards, so unless we bring in an established forward who doesn't have to be a world-beater but has been there and done that, then it is bound to be a slower process to see if these players can reach their full potential.

I see players who have left us and doing ok / better, not because they are world beaters, but in environments where the pressure is less, they are also surrounded by some good solid pros, and there is a confidence in the team.

Others have commented that signs are there that we are slowly improving and that shoudl continue. But realistcially we are still 2-3 years away at least

I really hope we don't sign Liam Delap. It's the last thing this squad needs. We need somebody who is ready made not another project striker.

Can I ask you something? Do you think it is fair to judge Hojlund for his performances, when he is playing as the focal point of the attack, even though you think that every other attacking player around him (excepting Amad) isn't good enough? How do you expect the no.9 to perform when no-one else is up to scratch?

My personal view is that he has the makings of a very good striker. But he gets feck all service. Last night in the second half was another fine example. There was a few occasions when we got the ball into dangerous wide areas and he made a run, then the ball was passed backwards. Must be frustrating as hell making the runs and being ignored.

Nacho is incredibly wasteful and another reason why we create so few chances for the no.9.

He has had 68 shots in the PL this season and scored just 4 goals. And he had 100 shots last season and scored just 7.

He is a talented kid, but that is absolutely terrible and really highlights how poor his decision making is.

Yeah i think I'd probably swap any of them for him to be honest as long as the deal makes sense financially.

A bit annoying that next season is a AFCON year though I can't lie.

Not ideal if we lose Onana (assuming he's still our number 1), Mazraoui, Amad and potentially Osimhen all at the same time.

Gyokeres, Sesko etc are probably going to have better options than United sadly.

He may be 20 but how many games does it take to learn not to cut inside and blaze it over the bar 9 times out of 10.

***********************************

We need to sell him now, or we will die in hope of him figuring it out.

It isn't just his decisionmaking; it's his ball-striking too. Evidenced not only by his shooting, but by his crossing as well.

It's really poor.

We've gone from Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Berbatov, Nani & Giggs, to that 🤷‍♂️

United are a midtable side at best. Always have been. Just got lucky to have had one of the greatest managers of all time for a couple of decades so now have a sense of entitlement. You're back where you belong.

Funny thing is, some Liverpool fans genuinely believe this.

Id be gutted if Garnacho was sold. Hes just 20 but the club/manager depends on him playing him in positions that often dont suit him to accomodate a daft system... and now Rash Antony Armadillo etc are not available playing in a front 3 with others who cant hit a barn door.... He shouldnt have been starting as many games
as he has or does. Hed be better off elsewhere.
