However it could be worse, we could have Gruev and Kamara in midfield.
he must play midfield, no question, deff an awesome back up CB
Personally I would be looking to shift from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3- this summer, with Ampadu playing at the base of the midfield. Should provide a bit more control as we will need to be more conservative this season than we otherwise have been. Also allows for Ampadu dropping into a back three (which we already do a bit of) and making us harder to break down.
I agree that he is a better CM than CB. He is prone to rushing forward to the ball, which isn't always the right choice (see play-off final). Think last season we were all having these conversations, and then in the last few weeks of that season Ampadu as a CB just fell off a cliff. Its fine as a stop-gap option, but not adequate as a regular occurence.

As someone who thinks Ampadu has been excellent at centre half please explain to me how he is now being called a liability and for what reason.
Very confused.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's naturally a midfielder, steps out into midfield leaving his defensive duties. Also gets turned too easily. Was a fairly recent sky match that happened, was pointed out by the panel at the time. Play players in their best positions. Farke loves right backs at left back, sends me into meltdown.

He got turned once V Sunderland and that was his first game back after a long May off with injury. Since then he’s been spot on.
If he ever steps up into midfield he’s usually covered by Tanaka or Gruev.
Maybe try watching him for 90 minutes and see how good he’s been alongside Rodon. .

Maybe watch him more carefully,he loves to drift into midfield which is understandable as he's a very good midfielder.
