Amazed to read that on Wednesday evening on BBC1 there’s live coverage of Switzerland v Norway in the Women’s Euros. Nothink against the women’s game but is there really going to be sufficient interest in that game to justify being on the beeb at prime time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I guess the argument will be that if all of the men's games are broadcast live on the prime channels, then so should the women's.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That argument needs to stop. Call me sexist or whatever but this desperate pushing of the womens game needs to stop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I tend to agree, England games ok maybe, but there is negligible interest in Switzerland v Norway, stick it on BBC4 by all means and let those interested do the necessary channel hopping.
However, and I'm just putting this out there, no one sniffs at women's tennis coverage on live tv, no matter who's playing so why, in theory, should team sports be any different?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Evidently you don’t see Canada v France in the Davis Cup live on BBC1 though?
I thunk tennis is quite a good comparison really because in that sport the women’s game has developed to the point where it’s virtually on a par with the men’s game in terms of public interest. Wimbledon gets sold out whether it’s a men’s or women’s game that’s on offer and I suspect there’s not much between them in terms of viewing figures on the bbc. I don’t think women’s football has progressed to anywhere near being on a par with the men’s game yet. Maybe one day it will
RAN breaks through to set up the first for City but the ball looked to hit his arm from the flick pass through. Neves leading the heated protests.
Switched off at half time. Unbelievable game by the sounds of it, Al Hilal end up winning 4-3 after extra time. Followed the Blue Moon forum second half, comical stuff, they are not happy. Seems they are getting tired of Pep and his 'suicide' high line.
Al Hilal are a good side, some genuine quality, Neves among them. Such a shame they are wasting their talents in Saudi.

second half that is
Remarkable win for Al Hilal who have spent a few bob bringing on good players but nowhere near as much as City. And by the end of the game half their players on the patch were Arabian. Football certainly progressing in that part of the world. Delighted for Neves.
Must be hard being a Man City supporter having to watch another team buying success.
Summer progressing along now and it will be a disgrace if we enter a new season without knobbling the outcome of the prolonged investigation into City
Strand Larsen officially became a Wolves player today with the club having paid the fee they were obligated to pay to sing him permanently.
Semedo meanwhile became unemployed today with his Wolves contract expiring yesterday.
To be fair, both Nunes and RAN have been playing the roles of wing backs and have done well, but for some reason, they both played as full backs last night and their defensive frailties were there for all to see.
3 European and 3 non European into the Q/F's. Could be 4/4 if Monterrey win tonight.

This is weird:-
I am surprised to see the Nelson Semedo situation drag on - Dave Edwards
The Nelson Semedo saga is continuing into July which is a surprise to everyone.
Jeff Shi has said there are no plans now to rebuild Molineux. But they are working towards improving the Steve Bull stand. A focus will be on the hospitality areas. Having spent one match in a box in that stand last year I can say the facilities are pretty hopeless, and what’s more on that day most of the boxes were unused. Hopefully they will do more than modernise the hospitality cause there’s other pants of the stand that are now woefully out of date, although the match views remain good.
Turkish press saying that the Trasbonspor centre back Christopher Woo is edging towards a move to Wolves.
Not sure about Wooh. Wasn't in the team much during the second half of last season and do we really need another CB at this point. Certainly not a starter imo.
Let's concentrate on a forward or two.
Just listened to the full Jeff Shi interview on the business of sport podcast, fascinating stuff. Not much that we didn't already know but all the same really interesting to hear direct confirmation from his own lips of stuff we've always speculated to be true. Some highlights:
Two 7th place finishes, a cup semi final, Europa League QF under Nuno were all "a bit lucky" apparently. We were too defensive and our pacy counter attacking style was "not stable".
He's pretty much wedded to e-sports and believes it's the right thing to pursue to grow the brand. He's trying to find innovative ways of better monetising e-sports, but notably he specifically said that any money generated would go back to e-sports, the football club would benefit only by association.
He sees the Wolves logo as important, applying it to other projects is a way to widen the club's profile.
Worst signing - Cutrone (he's obviously not going to say FS until he's actually gone). At first he seemed to question his character, but kind of back tracked and said he was a nice guy but not suited to the English game.
Jota was sold too soon, but put the blame on Nuno for that. They'd decided they needed to sell either him or Adama and Nuno apparently opted for jota given his injuries and lack of form at the time.
They looked at buying West Brom before us but Jeremy Peace wanted 200m and Morgan only 30m so was an easy decision.
Admitted they hung on to GON too long, surprisingly stopped short of pushing the blame on to Hobbs though.
Only ground improvements they're interested in are corporate, happy with 32k capacity, maybe looking to tweak the Steve Bull for more corporate revenue and marginal capacity increase.
Explained that the women's team situation with the unwillingness to apply for a license for the champship was due to the league imposing it on the the club mid season which he said he felt was wrong and against the spirit of the game. But then actually more or less admitted that he really couldn't be bothered throwing any money at the womens team because there was little prospect of a return, and anyway why were the players moaning about it because if they had been promoted 90% of them would have to be sacked off and replaced by better players or ones that could commit to more training
Still looking for new investors....
Admitted that his sole qualification for running a football club was playing football manager, but that he's learned a lot over the last nine years and they think they know what they're doing now
Honestly, I admire his willingness to try new stuff and break a few moulds, but my god the bloke's naivety is staggering. Dismissing the best three seasons we've had as fans as a mistake just increases the pressure on him from the fan base. Equally his insistence that the club is ambitious and not content with mid table finishes, yet at the same time only being willing to invest just enough to keep us out of relegation trouble doesn't add up. We know they want more money from elsewhere to propel the club forward but who's going to provide that for a club like Wolves without some guarantee of control?
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jeff-shi-wolves-chairman-how-to-succeed-in-the/id1690597762?i=1000715296277
Jeff increasingly comes across as uninspiring and unambitious. He is in complete control of the club but looks to blame others for any shortcomings. The extent of the ambition is to see what they can achieve without any investment. And that applies to both the tame and the stadium. Worrying for the long term. And worrying for the short term where every bookmaker I’ve seen has us 4th favourites to go down and we’ll need a good transfer window to prove that wrong.
All this from Johnny Drury:-
Apparently we're closing in on a deal for Wooh. Fabio wants to play European football and clubs from Germany are interested. Another CB, Kristensen from Udinese on the radar and lastly Feyenoord want Hugo Bueno back.
I hope the rumours about Feyenoord wanting to have Hugo Bueno back are not true, although I did mention a few days ago that Burnley had bought Hartmann, the other LB that played for Feyenoord last season.
Of course Bueno is still under contract (for how long?) so wages isn't an issue, unless we sold him. It would be interesting to hear where he'd prefer to play next season.
