He absolutey craves the Peace Prize and has done so ever since President Obama was awarded it back in the day a fact that has been gnawing away at trump ever since.

This is what I’d imagine Macron, Starmer and co played on to get Trump to be party to the ultimatum given to Putin re the ceasefire.

That was never likely to be agreed to, and everyone knew it, apart from Trump.

How can anyone who arms Israel and refuses to condemn Russia over its invasion of Ukraine be possibly considered for the Nobel Peace Prize?

I can imagine a large swathe of former Laureates handing their honours back should that ever happen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Daniella Weiss was put up for its nomination, which shows how farcical it is. I mean Obama facking won it.

He'll be the greatest alright.

Greatest meaning large or immense we use it in the pejorative sense.

That will be William Taft

Could be a lesson for our politicians that people will vote for someone who isnt scared to rock the boat and use a common sense approach

Exactly. Especially now we have seen a complete and utter moron with zero common sense destroy the worlds economy in 3 months and send his country spiraling into recession.

Sadly… it is a lesson for our politicians that mindless populism based on fear can win out.

Farage is already using talking points like DEI hires. Utterly predictable

Is "common sense" a buzz phrase that Reform are using to appeal to basic people? Seems like an easy win for them instead of thinking of actual policies.

It's an easy way of making the voter think they are not all just braindead reetaards for voting for them.

Oh so we aren't all idiots incapable of comprehending even slightly complex subjects, we actually have common sense? Thanks Nigel.

Pros - Harder line eventually on Israel.

Cons - Smashed the US economy, crypto scam, bribed from Qatar, throwing US citizens in jail without trial, deporting people to a death camp in El Salvador with no trial. That cowardly diabolical set up with Zelensky.

Where do you get that from? I know he moved the USA embassy last time, but has he ever been anti_Israel in any way?

Common sense should be that a capitalist country absolutely depends on immigration to function.

I think he would be pro immigration if they worked for free. He would welcome immigrants from the likes of Africa then. It would go some way to making America great again.

51% voted for Brexit so may be we are a majority of idiots and politics is as much about getting a message across to the majority as it is policies.

look at all the deals trump has done for american jobs and trade.

He didnt spend years talking about things he went in there day one and got stuff done.

He has cut out alot of the crap in politics and isnt scared to upset anyone.

Our politicians spent ages talking about what they are going to do before the election but labour hasnt achieved a single thing in a year in power. Embarrassing really.

Yeah his trade war seemed dangerous and stupid when first announced but now all the major econimies have cut deals that are in americas favour. So wasn't that stupid. He got what he wanted.

Yes, we are a majority of idiots. No maybe about it. It's the first thing you need to learn in life to not get angry at pretty much everything in daily life.

Saying things like "the majority of us must be stupid then if we all voted for Brexit".

Yes.

--------------------------------------------

I see no evidence of this. Encouraging Netanyahu to "finish the job" and musing about developing beautiful beachside real estate on an emptied Gaza have coincided with escalation of the genocide, carried out by Israel with much less pretence about ultimate goals. I don't recall any criticism of the carnage, let alone substantive measures to discourage it. Sure, Trump's concessions this week to Saudi, Qatar and Syria are strategic set-backs for Israel, but not because Trump is taking a "harder line", let alone betraying the slightest hint of taking a moral position on the wholesale slaughter and deliberate starvation of children. That just tells us that Trump has no guiding principles or strategies: he's capricious and self-serving and has no attention span or curiosity or ability to engage in detail. He stabs every ally in the back.

It's not patronising to call Trump/Reform voters stupid. Being a majority does not make you more right. the political system is set up to take advantage of the stupid majority. Is it time for an actual reform so that stupid people have less influence on the world?
