I dunno if we can afford him or if he’d ever wanna join us but Martinez at Villa is leaving. Always liked him.

I think Martinez is a tad overrated but he does have a presence. He'd probably cost a lot though.
I think compared with DDG, most of us accepted there would be some kind of trade off between Onana’s shot stopping ability vs his supposed elite level of distribution with his feet.
However, for one reason or another, his distribution has been underwhelming at best, and he is prone to a lot more blunders than we expected.
A lack of European football gives us a big opportunity to be ruthless with the squad. If Onana is a casualty of that, so be it.

Why has Ederson been out of favour with Pep, Boris? As most things relating to City’s squad, this seems underreported.
What we need is a Sergio Romero type signing. We could have left Onana at Inter and got Yann Sommer for 3-4 years for less than £10m if we were a competent football club.
The hilarious thing is too we signed Onana because he's supposed to be good at playing out from the back and he's not even that good at it.
ETH is a football terrorist.
I think it’s fair to say that Onana’s single season with Inter painted a rosy picture of his ability as a GK. As others have said, we’ve not exactly seen the benefits of his supposed passing & ball-playing, either.
Whilst letting De Gea go was probably the right call at the time, his replacement has been worse. We went through this before when Big Pete left and we resolved it by getting a top GK from a PL club. I don’t know if that will be replicable given our finances + who might be available & willing to come.
ETH being given full responsibility on transfers has set us back another 5 years basically.
So many players of his to move on and all at big losses. In some cases we won't even get back what we still owe on their original transfer fees.
People can be as angry at Amorim as they want. ETH did way more damage with these transfers.
He was supposed to be this ball playing keeper but has looked even worse than DDG. Gonna miss Mark Goldbridge Onana rants if he is sold..

Now he's taking over at Leverkusen I wonder if he could be tempted to bring in Onana and Rasmus <fingerscrossed> <foolshope>

He’s had some poor games this season and he seemed to be waving goodbye to the fans on Tuesday night.
Personally I hope he stays
He needs replacing, he’s been awful for us. The whole reason he was bought was because he’s supposedly good on the ball which we haven’t seen at all. On top of that no one feels comfortable when he’s on the pitch.

No doubt he is I just don't think he's as good as being best in the world. Being best on the pitch would do at present though!
Yeah I don’t think Martinez is the answer, will want high wages and while a more orthodox keeper who seems fairly consistent he doesn’t really fit the profile of what we’re after.
The FFS list reduces by one if he goes

Maybe the profile is wrong then
We do need an orthodox keeper, not some passing fad ball playing keeper. Keep it simple and solid
Unless Martinez was out of contract I'm not sure I'd read into any of those rumours. Villa aren't going to sell him cheap, especially to us. Unless there's some release clause I'm not aware of.

I prefer keepers who save shots and catch crosses personally. Feck this passing out from the back garbage. It doesn't work for us anyway. We just give the ball away and concede mostly.
Get a proper number 9 who can hold the ball up well and go long from the keeper. Law of averages days we will concede less goals by just doing that simple change.
He’s not our profile in that he’ll command high wages and will cost quite a bit. We don’t have the money to waste on someone like him. I think his character would probably handle the pressures of playing for United that most players struggle with.
Just go get am experienced keeper in his early 30's who is reliable and not prone to being an idiot. We don't need to spend 60m to improve on this clown.
Have a feeling we will go for James Trafford of Burnley though.

Yeah wages are problematic, but I would have no problem throwing him in, he’d absolutely handle it. He’s handled far higher pressure scenarios than anything Utd could throw at him
My biggest gripe with Onana is the fact he’s $hhit, it’s that he just stands there grinning every time he fcks up
