PSG and Luis Enrique are a bit late to the party on this one, but I suppose late is better than never

Looks like they actually buy that will deliver rather than buy them on the name and offer them long deals in the hope they’ll be good somewhere down the line

Following the Clarklake (BlueCo) playbook.

The Clearlake playbook obviously didn't appeal to Enrique or vice-versa when he was interviewed as a potential manger for us.

Theres also a big difference between the PSG model and ours.

PSG have signed young players but their squad is underpinned by experienced older players throughout the spine which gives them a very nice balance.

CB and captain is 31, Dembele 28 i think, Ruiz 29, supplemented by a couple of "squad players" of similar age.

GK and RB are 26 but with a wealth of experience and success already.

Ironic thing is that PSG were 90 mins from exiting the competition in the League stage, but, no doubt their performances in the latter stages were a joy to watch and a refreshing sight to see players with the freedom to express themselves.

Also goes to show that you can control a game playing high tempo pro active football and not only by a diet of sideways and backwards passes at walking pace (often between defenders) 60/70 yards from the oppositions goal.

Young players bought yes, however would also say that PSG spending and recruitment is far more selective as to what the CURRENT squad needs .

Or general dislike for all things associated with Roma... i.e. Enrique.

with the intensity of the modern pressing game, it's no surprise the game at the top level is moving towards younger players

Exactly, it is about getting a balance

Experience, quality & youth

Build a spine & develop the group

Mould them into a squad that plays with purpose

Imo, without doubt young players benefit from having experienced players who can guide them.

Our squad needs 3/4 players who are quality combined with experience.

The first time around, they got it wrong, for one reason or another,

Kudabali, Chilwell, Sterling,Aubamayang,Forfana,

James ect ect, mixed with far to many prospects!
