Thats outrageous tbh if the PL can have that sort of leverage on the legal system
And seems a little unlikely.

From my perspective the CPS better have a good reason why the timeline played out like this
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the more cohesive argument is they fear an out of contract Partey could end up rather quickly in a country they will find it hard to bring him back for trial rather than they were waiting for his Arsenal contract to end.

Fair. Let's hope it's a genuine reason. I just meant it's more likely than Arsenal bribing the police.
Honestly think it's too early to say if we've acted with class or not
Sir Keir and his two tier policing am i right 😤
Without class.
I don't think there's anyway to act with class in this instance really without just taking a guess. You risk either playing a criminal wrongly or ruining someone's career wrongly.
Will have to wait and see what the club knew but seems like we didn't want him at the club unless the investigation had been dropped with no guilt found.
Will have to wait and see what the club knew

That's the huge grey area init. Of course the club aren't going to admit if they knew or even suspected he was guilty. And of course there's going to be a group that won't believe they didn't know anything that was going on. Personally I'm mostly in the latter group. Either they somehow know he's innocent, or they turned a blind eye.
Regardless it's pretty crappy cos they put winning football over doing the right thing if there's any significant doubt. What message are you putting out? This isn't some regular job, it's silly to ignore the influence football has on society and as such, the responsibilities that those in charge bear

My issue is with people who are happy to consider horrible, horrible caaants to be “totally innocent men” if they haven’t been convicted in a court of law.
Evans is a facking despicable caaaaant. Greenwood is a despicable caaaant. Mendy is a facking irredeemable human being.
These aren’t “innocent men”.
There were plenty of Arsenal supporters that wanted rid of Partey when the rumours first arose though. Guilty or not, you don’t want the club to be associated with those types of characters.
But then something like the Mendy case happens, and it shows you the difficult position it potentially puts a club in.
There weren’t many Gooners sad to see Partey leave this summer, despite him just having arguably his best/most consistent season for us.
Added to that when transfer rumours of a move abroad last summer arose plenty questioned ‘the issue(s)’ around him potentially leaving the country. The assumption was there couldn’t be strong enough evidence against him to affect a transfer.
Why then would this all be down to Arsenal to decide the outcome of a trial that, at that stage, seemed unlikely to ever happen?

What exactly are Evans and Mendy guilty of? Both proved sexual relations was consensual, not their fault the women then tried to get some sort of twisted revenge on them - and in the case of Mendy there was literally evidence of conspiracy against him.
I hope you never have sexual relations, it would kill you to be so self-damning after.
