Think its perfectly acceptable for elderly/vulnerable people to have them but I also feel they're not at all necessary for fit and healthy people. Didn't have the covid jab as I have a perfectly good immune system that's designed to fight off such infections.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Considering that Covid was able to bypass the immune system, I’d say it’s more likely just plain luck you weren’t affected it.

Also worth remembering Shaun went for a walk up his street once and could still see his house when down the other end. Flat earth you see, pretty much conclusive.

I had Shingles a few years ago. Horrible!
That and Gout are the worst pains I've ever felt.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I actually went through a gout attack in my ankle this week. It's hands down by far the most severe pain I've ever felt, lying in bed is no use, not even hanging the foot over the edge of the bed, sitting in a chair or with a recliner and keeping the affected foot in the air is no use, absolute agony. The least painful position was just lying in the living room floor mind of hyperventilating. I called 111 and they declared because I hadn't had a fall it wasn't an immediate emergency, so I had to wait for a call back, but I felt desperate and really just wanted to call 999 just to get anyone over to help.
A gout attack is absolute agony and the closest thing I have to describing it i guess is like having your ankle in a vice for a number of hours.
I spent my time unable to walk, crawling around the house, or just lying still on the floor punching the floor shouting obscenities until after 3 hours it began to ease off
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Are you overweight? Thought gout was an tubbers disease, or can it happen to anyone?
Either way that sounds pretty awful man.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Gout can happen to anyone at any time, though it is far more prevalent in men.
It has NOTHING to do with diet or lifestyle (confirmed by several doctors) - the old adage that it's a rich mans disease is utter bollox.
As said above, it is sheerest agony when a full blown attack hits. The first time I had it, I thought I'd broken my foot.
The good news? One Allopurinol a day is enough to never have an attack again. It's sufficient to break down the urates which would otherwise crystallize in whatever joint it wants. Mine was always in my big toe.

If it were just the anti-vaxxers getting hurt, i'd chalk it up to evolution of the species.. But they put at risk their own kids, their family, neighbours, friends and the general public.

Which explains why I wake up in pain every night.

There's no conspiracy, i don't believe in bleach or 5g and all that nonsense, I'm not a flat earther. A lot of young sportsman were having heart related issues including heart attacks as it was led to believe at the time that the vaccine can increase your heart rate. As someone that does a lot of high intensity training and who's heart rate thunders away during exercise, that wasn't a risk I was willing to take. No heart attacks or blood cots here, its as if it never happened.
