That is the crux of it. Some players are not all that good and need their play to be elevated by others. We need someone who is frankly better to help elevate them.

We need someone of near Saka's ability to take advantage if Saka is defended out of the game. Trossard was never that.

No chance of that. Saka is in the top 5 wide players in the world, and teams just won't sell players of that skill level. So you have to look at the level below or hope you can develop a player. And tbh you don't need someone of that calibre because even middling players can look good opposite a top star as they draw all the attention.

Rodrygo is closest to Alexis. Unappreciated for not quite hitting expectations. The difference in values is just down to inflation.
