He looked good when he played for England but very much as a functional type.

For United he looks like a square peg in a round hole, not sure what kind of player he is. Would be a gamble to pay decent money for him.

Has is attitude been a problem? Feels like it has because Amorim hasn't really favoured him but that could be down to him not fitting a role in that daft system of his.

This is a non story. Where I don’t think he’s nearly as good as some fans seem to overate him as, I wouldn’t want him to leave, and can’t see this happening. Not sure how well he’ll turn out eventually but might aswell keep him around to see

No one has looked good playing for United in quite a while. A few seasons actually.

But they seem to thrive when you take them out of that witch's cauldron.

Says more about the running of the club than it does about the talent at their disposal.

Also, I know it is radio talk, but they are talking £50 mill+.

He is similar to that English guy that was available for free, I think he went to another French team, a continuity player. If we haven't got one of those in our academy ranks, someone needs sacking.

It's the wrong move anyway, even though I think he's a good player. For the same reasons he's struggling at United would be the same with us. We both need a deep lying 6 that can either dictate a game, like a Carrick, or get stuck in, like a Paulinha. Mainoo is none of those. He's an 8 and we have plenty of those already. It's astounding people can't see this. I'd be very surprised if the club made a move for him. We'd be stocking up in an area we're already flush in.

All being said £200m should seal the deal

I like him but he's not what we need. especially for the kind of money being floated around it would be a very strange decision

Yes...what's happening there?

Don't rate him or want him either. We've got Bergvall and Sarr who can do what he does but better.

He's a player who i think struggles to fill a role in the modern game (and certainly struggles in a 2 man midfield like Uniteds)

He's a good little player, with his strengths more in the final thrid but he isnt a no.10. He's young & energetic but he doesnt seem to have natural defensive instincts or the physicality/power to mix it itn the central midfield. He doesnt have the skills to control a game like say an Eriksen used to for Spurs.

For me a role that suits his strengths would be in a no.10 position but where maybe you are looking for slightly more solidity, so you are compromising a bit in both attacking and pure defensive qualities. A bit of a younger Nason Mount. Someone like MGW offers a lot more both offensively and defensively and gives far more control than this lad.

Still young enough to learn for sure, but think we need someone a bit more oven ready

Bergvall maybe, but not Sarr. Just cos we're stacked in that area, doesn't mean Mainoo isn't a good player.

It's all relative init. If we were talking about 20m maybe I'd get on the bandwagon. But Devonshire is right - we need someone for now
