Sesko

It's a bit strange with people reporting United don't have money because, if we believe reports, we made a bid for Ekitike. I think Sesko would join United rather than Newcastle if we stumped up the cash.

The big question is could he offer what Amorim wants? I've seen his compilation of goals but not seen much about his general play.

Surely we can move most of the players on as well soon!

I don't see it happening personally, wasn't he Arsenal's prefered choice at the start of the summer but they moved away because of his fee?

We've been after him for years and he's obviously talented but at 22 he's probably still a way off being at his best and I'm not sure a move to us after a huge transfer is the kind of move we need right now tbh.

I think the club have to be 100% certain he's the man to lead our attack for the next few years because if he isn't then we should step away and look at other areas rather than spend big on a striker that isn't quite right.

Not totally convinced on that these days. In the past for sure. Not sure we still have the same pull we once did. I’d like to think you are right here diafol.

Id take this with a huge pinch of salt.

I think this would completely go against the clubs approach so far this window (older, Prem proven, Only want United) especially seei how Hojlund, despite his potential, has struggled upto now. Not to mention the fee seems beyond us.

Mbuemo chose us over Barca, Bayern, Real and Liverpool so we still have the pulling power.

Another young striker with a modest enough strike rate. Not sure on this one.

Someone is going to sound a player with the goal rate of 13 in 30 games and think he will step up seamessly. I'm wondering if there has ever been something like this before?

Someone is going to sign a financial burden and not know how to get anything for him, and not be able to sell him because they valued his potential so highly. I pray its not United. If we can afford the foolish money for him, then just pay for Isak and face financial fail play rules later. .

Give it up you’re not the attraction you once were under Fergie.

That’s true. He even had to change his signing speech. “I’m so glad to sign for the club I grew up supporting, Real Madr…err, sorry Barce…, (what, oh we are in Manchester?), I mean Manchester Ci..I mean.. United. “

I suspect the bigger issue with this signing is whether we have the money to meet their asking price, we know Newcastle will.

Doesn't mean we repeat earlier mistakes hoping for a new result. Hojlund and Zirkzee are highly talented youngster struggling to take the step up. Another one is not the best idea

Isn’t that where you met Pun’s mum? I don’t think we are nearly as revered as we’d like to think these days. We still have pull, for sure, but not what it was

If we are paying £60m+ I'd prefer we went for Osimhen.

Matt Law reckons that you will get Sesko and Newcastle will turn their attention to Nicolas Jackson to replace Isak. Haven’t their fans had enough pain already this transfer window, come on lads.

I’d imagine Oshimen’s wages are way bigger than Sesko’s though. Isn’t he off to Galatasaray anyway?

Mbuemo is nailed on starter at Utd not so much at Newcastle who play a different system in 4-3-3. Newcastle also can’t afford to break their wage structure so can’t pay what you Utd are. Plus Sesko is a younger player who apparently is looking for a stepping stone club.

posted on 28/7/25

Can’t imagine Mbuemo would have broken Newcastle’s wage structure, it’s not like we’re paying him crazy money, probably around 160-200k.

posted on 28/7/25

Newcastle play Jacob Murphy on the right, Mbuemo walks into their team.

Newcastle would have been able to afford his wages anyway. The can certainly break their wage structure if they want to and will likely need to so they can sign Sesko.

I get the jokes around him but based on style of play Nico does make sense for Howe

Also a good fee makes sense for us, im not biased or nuthin

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Has Hojlund failed because all young strikers lacking relevant experience will fail at United? Or because he individually lacked the specific tools to lead the line in this United side? I've not got the detailed knowledge of Sesko to have a very clear view either of his quality or his fit. But I've read a lot of people saying he has attributes that suggest he could be one of the best centre forwards of his generation if he fulfils his potential (something that no one was saying about Hojlund). I've also read commentary that suggests the way he's being deployed at RB Leipzig isn't playing to his strengths, that he'd be a better fit for Amorim's system, and just maybe he'd be a player who was more productive at the right PL club than in the Bundesliga. We've seen a few players who defy the Bundesliga tax.

As I say, I don't know if he's the man. But anyone going solely on age + goals + where he's playing is missing the crucial questions of what attributes he has and how well does he do the things he does.
