That second half mentality shift clearly alarmed Martin and he’s right - it wasn’t tactical at all.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Except it was tactical.
His tactics left us exposed, instead of changing them to give us a solid base he left it, changed the players and got what he deserved.
Actually more than he deserved.
The players have shown desire in the European games and had the same issues, that shows it's tactical imo and not a lack of effort etc.

It was the same tactics in the first half as it was the second half.
The difference was Motherwell came out fired up and we had players that couldn’t match that effort or desire.
And after changing personnel we ended up with our backups right across the middle to front. If Martin had been paying attention at the Middlesbrough game he’d have known these guys can do a job sometimes but they can’t be relied on.
I don’t think his system is right for us just now. But we did have the game completely under control in the first half at first park using those tactics. We just aren’t creating enough because all our attacking players going forward are either injured/getting up to speed/not available

RUSSELL Martin has named four changes to his Rangers team for this evening’s UEFA Champions League third round qualifier against Viktoria Plzen.
Oliver Antman, who signed from Go Ahead Eagles yesterday, comes straight in for his debut, with Jefte, Lyall Cameron and Cyriel Dessers also named in the XI.
James Tavernier, Kieran Dowell, Nico Raskin and Danilo are named on the bench, with John Souttar captaining the side this evening.
Rangers start with Jack Butland in goal behind a back four of Max Aarons, Nasser Djiga, John Souttar and Jefte.
Lyall Cameron makes his first start since joining in the summer as he joins Joe Rothwell and Mohamed Diomande in midfield.
Djeidi Gassama keeps his place in the front line, and is joined there by Oliver Antman and Cyriel Dessers.
On the bench this evening are Liam Kelly, James Tavernier, Oscar Cortes, Connor Barron, Nedim Bajrami, Kieran Dowell, Emmanuel Fernandez, Nico Raskin, Bailey Rice, Josh Gentles, Findlay Curtis and Danilo.

Well you have to admire Martin for having the cojones to back up his words with changes. Big changes at that.
Can’t say I’m too impressed he’s managed to take our POTY and current Belgian international and benched him for a free transfer from Dundee who has never started a competitive game for us.
Tavs was being phased out under clement. If we bring in someone like Aarons he should be given the chance at RB.
Huge calls. Looking forward to it….

Making snide wee veiled digs at certain players without naming them is pretty pooofy.
Just saying.
Ballsy to drop Tav though.

So, Captain Tav is one of the players that puts in the effort when things are going well then hides when it's not. Hands up who's surprised? More concerned about the potential devaluation of Raskin though. Ironically one who stood out when things were going badly last season.

He was pretty unanimously our POTY last season.
Martin has played out of position as the left 8 - supposedly he doesn’t think Raskin is neat and tidy enough either his passing to be the 6 in his system.
It’s a big call and a bit of a risk. The truth is we haven’t played well enough for long enough in the 3 games this season.
Will be interesting to see how the players respond tonight.
Very surprised Antman is starting considering he’s just in the door.
