United rolling the dice......and I like it

The only way we get Donnaruma is if he is lured by the ‘dream’ and the name and history of the club etc. If he’s after a wage increase from his last PSG contract then he’ll be going to Chelsea or Saudi.

He’d be in the price bracket of Rice, Caiceido and a player that looks perfect for the position and profile we need. His age and relatively low wages (said to be on only £12m a week at Brighton still) would mean if we could structure a deal for 5 years payments of around £20m a season it would be real possibility for us.

He’d be coming into his ‘prime’ years/age at the end of that deal.

Pretty much this.

At his age we could potentially have him for 9-10 years if he worked out. All of a sudden then it looks a good deal.

Not looking forward to AFCON though. We're going to be missing half of our team.

"I wouldn’t be surprised if we brought in Donna on lower than expected wages but with performance bonuses that we pay him based on his own brilliance."

That's literally the reason PSG are selling him.

Like Darren I've just never been sold on him personally.

Can you imagine if we stuck with Onana this season and after the huge outlay on outfield players we still conceded the dumbest of goals regularly with an actual muppet in goal?

Surely Amorim wakes up in a cold sweat at that thought.

This is the issue Brighton have. They are paying a player 12k a week and telling potential suitors he's worth 100m. Makes no sense.

United are likely to offer him 120-150k a week at 21 years old. Brighton won't get close to that figure and that's why he will be moving.

Seems we have gone the same route with him as with Cunha, Mbeumo, Sesko too with getting the player to buy in and give us their word they want to come before going into full talks with the club.

I hadn't realised but apparently Baleba and Yoro were very close friends whilst playing together at Lille.

Seems like it isn't just Onana and Mbuemo who have been in his ear through the Cameroon connections.

Players wake up in a cold sweat knowing Amoron will be taking training sessions.

Regarding Donnarumma, I don't think we'll go for him. A big reason PSG are moving him on is because of wages and them wanting players to fit in with their new wage structure. The way the club are moving we shouldn't be looking at big names wanting huge wages. Donnarumma is a good player with big saves in him but I also think he's quite clumsy whose profile isn't really ideal, I'd hope the club can identify a better suited keeper who won't demand massive wages.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, this.

People's opinion on him has been swayed a bit by a couple of really good CL games. I don't think he's as good as a lot of people seem to think he is.

I think probably the most sensible option for the keeper position right now is to get rid of Bayindir buy a young number 2 with the potential to challenge for the number 1 spot. Lammens seems to fit that bill.

After Onana I know we’ve forgotten what it is for a keeper to save shots but this montage gets the 🐱 wet again.

Sounds more realistic. Still can't believe our club looked at Bayindir and thought it was wise to spend money on him. Makes Onana look like prime Schmeichel.

While I think we need to replace Onana and he cost us a lot of points last season from some terrible keeping, he was also good at times and defensively we were ok. So hopefully the club as a whole can be more settled and we see a better Onana this season, at least until next summer when we can sell him.

But you could make a compilation of Onana's best saves and make him look good, he made quite a few top saves last season. The problem with Donnarumma is that he is clumsy, makes quite a few unforced errors and is poor on the ball.

Montages of keepers are silly. You can make them show whatever you want. Look at this one for example. All exclusively from CL games in recent years.

Not trying to criticise Donnarumma here - he is a good keeper. I just honestly don't think he is among the elite and seems to be demanding those sorts of wages.

If we add either Donnarumma or Baleba I would be beyond happy. Both, would be possibly the most ambitious window I’ve see from us ever given present circumstances.

All our signings are / would be first 11 starters and upgrades on what we had, which is exactly what is needed.

Too many transfer windows over the last years have been full of squad filler players that didn’t move the needle.

If we sign Baleba I will be feeling incredibly optimistic for the season ahead, he would be a game changer for us.

If I’m slightly overrating him, you’re underrating him far more. No keeper is perfect but he’s rightly considered one of the best keepers in the world by many people. He’s a massive upgrade on Onana. Which is hugely needed as Onana is a cancer on the team when the whole outfield know that no matter how well they do going forward, having a calamity in goal (and much more of a calamity than Donna) kills confidence

posted on 12/8/25

I'm not underrating him, I think he's a good keeper who has some big saves in him and is better than Onana. But I also think he has issue with his game and most importantly will demand wages our club won't accept.

posted on 12/8/25

I think Baleba is more important than a GK as much as i don't rate Onana.

Our goal for next season isn't to win the league. It's to finish top 7 and push as hard as possible for that 5th CL spot if possible. I think that's still achievable with Onana in goal as long as we get Baleba.

Going further forwards into the future and a potential title race in 2-3 years is a different conversation altogether. That for me is new GK territory. We won't win the PL with him in goal.

On the subject of highlights packages, this Sesko one is gr8. One thing is clear, he hits the ball as hard as I’ve seen anyone hit it.

Very excited by this one. Still developing and not the finished product quite yet but he's close and much closer than Rasmus is / was.

Why are people so excited about Donnarumma ? Average keeper.

That said there are some nice authentic Italian restaurants around Manchester such as pizza hut and dominos so I'm sure he'll feel right at home
