Yes. We miss him. Hammond is excellent at his job.
Not sure I'd give Hammond all the credit for good moves
at LUFC. It was a team. However, Underwood and his
team have been backed by the 49ers because they
operate using data analytics, and they trust that data.
Hammond is more old school. He knows his sh * t.
Not sure he's fully responsible for Everton being able
to land these really good signings lately. However,
if you ran data and ignored coincidence, it's hard to
argue that Hammond has done his thing once again
over in Toffee land.
*hasn't done his thing once again
over in Toffee land.
Isn't he the guy who did those football blooper videos? Is he still alive?
Alcaraz is a player they already had, Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish are both expensive punts on players that have struggled for gametime and form for at least a season, and Barry is young and unlikely to be a main guy for them this season.
Its not a bad window, but they're signings behind where they want to be. Moyes was criticising his recruitment team last week for being too slow to do business.
Yeah Moyes wanted 10 in because so many left and he had only got 4.
Grealish KDH good signings that we are simply 2-3 good seasons behind attracting.
I think I'm with you, Batty. We know bringing in players at any time is a risk, for Everton and for us. However, my brother is an Everton fan and he said the performance against Roma was the best of the pre-season. Even though they lost, they were on top for most of the game and the Roma keeper was excellent. Pre-season, I know, but Everton finished last season with a lot of momentum and their fans are now talking about a top ten finish, if my brother is to be believed, which is not always the case, especially as he sold my bike when I was away on holiday, 45 years ago. That said, this could be a very difficult opening game for us.
Also, Batty, I just saw that Hammond was at Newcastle when they brought in Burn and Guimares.
We have signed
A first choice keeper
A first choice left back
A first choice centre back
A first choice midfielder
We have also signed
A centre back for depth
A midfielder for depth
A striker for depth
And are about to bring in another striker.
In what way haven't we been active and how are we not dealing with the gaps where we need them.
Jesus Christ, the over reaction to what is going on. We are a newly promoted side and there is still weeks left in the window, yet because we haven't signed a striker that scored 60 goals last season everything is rubbish and we haven't signed anyone

Thanks, Mattyp, fair point. Up till now, only my misses calls me Jesus Christ.
You can only preliminarily judge a transfer window
at the end of the window and properly judge it by the time the next window comes round.
Am I a little underwhelmed? Yes, at this stage but we’ll see soon enough whether the strategy and fulfilment of it is inspired or misguided.
Hammond did well for us, his prior cv has hits and misses. He was brought in at Newcastle as a closer to get deals that were already identified over the line.
Seems to me the club have bolstered the more defensive areas of the team, how well only time will tell. But that's the same for Sunderland, won't know how the spending goes until you're into the season and they've got prem players running at them.
Bit surprised and underwhelmed by the DCL signing, if finalised. Maybe adopting the government with the policy of 1 in and 1 out (DCL in, Bamford out) - a sort of like for like arrangement. Happy for DCL to be back to his best and score a hatful for us ...........
As for the club needing to spend big in the coming days/weeks - disagree. Ideally need to just spend well and wisely. We're neither established or top 10 prem, like it or not, we're competing on a different level to others.
As it stands, only 3 new starters against Everton, one is a keeper and the other is a left back. Not been good enough at all, topped off by an atrocious signing of DCL. Seems were in the league to make the numbers up.

Good piece on DCL in the YEP today. For info, make of it what you will.

Was that written by his mate? He’s scored a total of 18 goals in the last 4 seasons (that’s total - not per season😱) so I don’t give a fig tbh about whether or not he manages to stay fit for a few games (albeit unlikely imho) - he’s feccking useless at putting it in the onion bag.

Doesn't change my view that this is a underwhelming, just provides a bit more detail that I for one wasn't aware of. Also throws a comparison to Solomon.
C'mon people are overreacting about DCL. I get the injury record but he could be a shrewd signing. He is definitely good enough to lead the line for a lower table club. He has been Evertons number 9 for a long time now and they haven't been relegated.
I started to become quite hopeful we could get Mitrovic
but that seems to be a remote possibility now we have signed DCL so if it was a choice between the two I think Mitrovic comes out ahead on pretty much all the key components that you expect from a striker so I can only think either the owners couldn't satisfy Mitrovic's wage demands or Mitrovic didn't want to play for Leeds which I'm disappointed about if this is true and it now looks more likely the only other forward we will add is Sargent or the the AC Milan left winger/striker who looked half decent skinning Schmidt a few times last Saturday.
El Khannouss would be nice but it feels like he's waiting for C.Palace as a replacement for Eze's potential departure so that again leaves us pondering on whether Solomon will be a late desperate deadline day arrival snd oh yes then theres Hamer....some goal he scored last night!!!
