as always its more the principles and how the club operate

and ultimately stuck in a place where we should be able to sign these players and be a force but realistically we are so much smaller than the 5 other traditional 'big 6'

there are still a number of players there to be signed but its hard to have confidence to get anything over the line with whats happened so far this window. we need 2 more quality additions to improve the first team, especially with further injury set backs.

Yeah, I bet you’re also pleased Morgan Gibbs-White chose not to join your lot too 🤣

Actually, it is a little worrying you do see that was a different situation. That said, if he wanted to come, he'd be here.

There was always too much Arsenal noise from him for me.

Just my own personal opinion

of course Gibbs-White wanted to come - why else did he leak his release fee? Why did he only sign a one year extension?
Maranakis threatened to tie him up in court if he didnt sign a new contract.
Ignore the Forest fan on the wind up.
How far have we fallen though? Forest fans trying to wind up Spurs Fans... i rememeber the peak Poch years where we were at least infested on here by Liverpool fans.

Morgan Gibbs-White had no intention of going to Spurs

He just publicly pulled down Levy’s knickers to get himself the contract he wanted

Arsenal have just doubled up with the Eze situation 👍🏼

posted on 22/8/25

if that is true then why only want a 1 year extension?
surely he would want a 5 year contract at this increased weekly pay, if indeed that was his ultimate goal.

He already had 2 years in his current deal, 1 more year gives him a 3 year contract

Saying all that, if he has a good season this year, I can easily see him moving in next summer….but it will be for a fee north of £100M 👍🏼

posted on 22/8/25

Yeh agree with that - ill be amazed if he is at Forest at the start of the 26/27 season.
North of £100m though? Not sure on that. Not with only 2 years on his contract.

Only mental patients would pay that

Eze is a snake. Best thing that happened Spurs not signing him.

posted on 22/8/25

Eze is a Woolwich fan, so The Degenerates is the best place for him, fans are bleating on like it`s the end of the world because he chose the Gooners, but he`s no superstar, there will be other players just as good out there to bid for.

Ignoring Eze stringing us along, the real problem we have is the way Levy does business, there are endless examples of top players we nearly signed, but Levy`s stinginess meant they went elsewhere.

posted on 22/8/25

It's not all aboutissing out on Eze.

It's the whole optics.

Spend 2 weeks negotiating to end up with egg on your face.

No seeming plan B/C??

Send out messages like we want to win PL & CL then look clueless and have major players out for best part of the season (you knew about this for ages).

What kind of organisation and hierarchy is this?

Especially when your chairman has over 15-20 years of history of such tactics and dinosaur approach and mindset to football nowadays.

What happened is ridiculous but with Levy at the helm always a possibility to happen again Or maybe he’s learned a lesson.

That said we need to move on try sign any other targets we may have. The general squad on paper looks ok but we do need 2-3 solid additions to increase the strength and depth for when it gets tough and we have more injuries etc.

Hopefully Levy understands this if not Frank should be on his case constantly day and night until the window shuts.

Don't hold your breath about Levy learning/changing from this.

He said himself he has thick skin and as the saying goes a leopard doesn't change his spots.

Yet here we are once again at least two players short going into a season whilst other clubs have no problem signing players that improve them now.

Relax Mack. Are Spurs only playing with nine men now?

come on now, you KNOW he would easily improve your team...he would have probably been your best player.

Lots of "If & buts" in there.... I still think Levy blew the chance to sign him for whatever reason. Personally, I don't if anyone supported Arsenal as a kid.... This is a job... Its only fans that care about stupid shlt like that.. It means nothing.... anyway time to move on

Agree with you Re Elliot.. He'd be a great signing.... Sadly I think the Klopp factor might see him head to Leipzig... would be a shame... Great player for a decent price.

The Tel signing is weird.... Did nothing to justify signing him... I still think it has something to do with the Kane deal.... Levy can't help himself for a young player on low wages in that 20-30mln quid bracket, Odobert & Solomon another one are 2 more.. tidy players but don't move the needle.... We just get stuck with them.... Don't play enough or produce enough for them to be sold on for a profit and then they just disappear on loans

Whilst there may be some circumstances around the Eze deal which can excuse the club, the fact that we are so far behind Liverpool and arsenal is down to a lack of ambition in the market from levy and co. We finished above arsenal several seasons running but we didn't make the list of it. We continued taking punts on younger players and really didn't push ourselves to th next level.

The continuing pe by pinching, miserly tactics in negotiations causes break downs with other clubs and makes it harder the next time we want to do business.

A lot of it feels smoke and mirrors I have to say. Let's look at the Guehi bid on the final day of the last transfer window. 75mil bid in the final hours, knowing palace like to get replacements on first and being tricky to deal with. They must surely have known it wouldn't get accepted but it was an 'well we tried' moment.

The Dybala situation was another, it was caught up in image rights in the end. But was left so late for such a top player that they surely must have known it wouldn't happen.

The transfer window should be an exciting time but it's just frustrating most of the time from a spurs point of view.

This absolutely smacks of getting rejected by a girl and saying "I didn't fancy her anyway"

We wanted him, he would have been great, let's be clear. He'll still be great for Arsenal but it is what it is. We move on.

The good thing to come out of this is that Levy needs a statement signing or two to get him out of this hole. It's pushed him into a corner. He has to act.

Very hard to improve European Champions. Especially if the only clubs you have played for are QPR, Wycombe and Palace. I don't see where he gets in the current Spurs team.

Fighting coc k reporting that levy stalled the deal because he was unhappy with the bonuses agreed. He wanted them less atainable.

To the OP, yeah we've peaked clearly - all our players are obviously past it. I mean Saka at 23, MLS at 18, Nwaneri at 17, Rice at 26 won't improve etc etc. Idiot.

This is just ridiculous he's a quality player and would improve almost any team in the league. He's going to play off the left wing but I'd happily have him replace Odegaard.
