PS. I know I ought to get cracking with my Excel Results sheet !

It's back to the,"who knows?" Scenario. GM is on the lookout for a striker but is that the real problem or just the set up and service to the loan front man? We probably do need another "loan" front man.
I always live in Hope but fear another setback 1-0 to Vale.

I was going to say Sharps' a bit blunter these days and Ironside is still rusty.

I'm hoping I'll wake-up earlier enough to see the team before making a prediction. If I don't, I'll say 1-1 with Mols scoring.

Port Vale 1-2 Rovers
Sharp to score ⚽

Just about the same team and so I'll stay with 1-1 but hope for a better result for us. It is nearly what I'd pick except I probably play Maxwell at left back, and possibly give Crew and Ajayi a start. Still, I'm sure we will see those two in the second half.

congrats to those who had the confidence in winning. I was thinking of changing mine from 1-1 to 1-2 to the Rovers, but could not imagine from where two goals would come.
I'm sure Vale fans felt at half-time like we did at Huddersfield! I'm glad Grant pulled McGrath and Senior at half time as that was the worst half they have played in a long time.
The big worry is our lack of goals, especially from the front line. Last season Mols often cut inside and had some great goals from curving shots, but rarely tries that this season - is it that the opposition have worked this out and prevent him cutting in and forward at the same time? Should Middleton also try more shots?
Billy was a little unlucky with that header, but I thought he played well except for a lack of a goal. How does he cover all that grass at the speed he does?
Many of the others need to improve their target skills as Clifton and Broadbent both scoffed good chances.
Some of the one-touch approach play was excellent, but then the last pass or the delay in pulling the trigger ends the opportunity.
It will be interesting how many Grant rests on Tuesday!

There is definitely an extra something about the fluidity of the play so far which I don’t remember seeing last season. What is missing is Street’s presence and I also believe that Molyneux operates best in partnership with Sterry.
Sharp showed that he can endure 90 minutes without showing weariness which is admirable at his age. The missing ingredient is a Street equivalent and I can’t see us making the top 6 without a good striker.
The indications are that GM has some targets and as strikers are always in short supply and the club has limited funds it will presumably have to be a player whose potential has not been widely visible. He identified this with both Adelukan and Street, so can he do it again?

Great comments, Donaldo; I'd love to have Street with the half chances we are creating, as many would become goals.
I've not seen Ironside play for a long time, but people are saying he is nowhere near what he was two seasons ago. Billy works hard, but does he really have the cutting edge we need today? At the moment I think his less physical size may hinder him a little at this stage of his career in League One. However that leap for the header than just went over the bar, cetrainly shows his amazing fitness. I'd really like him to score several goals. I'd still start him as our #9 - unless Grant has found an amazing guy for no money!

The two most important things for clubs are a striker who scores regularly and a goalie who keeps shots out. It's really difficult with limited funds to sign a proven striker at our level. A fading star will still be expensive and no guarantee of goals. GM took a punt on Hanlan and it doesn't appear to have worked out yet. So where do we get one from. It's lower leagues or a good loan signing like Street was. As you both say it will be essential for us if we are to challenge for a promotion or play off place. We're playing well in patches and showing enough to be comfortable in this league. Molyneax's form is probably the key. Middleton showing his worth too. Tomorrow will be interesting to see who he puts out up front. I'd guess Hanlan will be back in but we'll see.
