Legalise some drugs. Especially weed. Tax the utter shiiiit out of it, create industries around it, that’s a lot of cash coming into the coffers.

I’ve no idea why they haven’t yet.,

I agree entirely Baz,I believe that UK is the biggest provider of weed to Germany for medicinal purposes, why not legalise it in Britain and as you say reep ,the beneficial business and taxes that can be had from this !

H von H, I think the tax money they are sleeping on here would massively help the country.

It’s actually incredibly daft not to do it.

Sandy,

I dont know if you are aware & the point of the article is!

The police will not investigate any shop lifting offences under £200.

Are you aware of the impact that this having on society ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's not having any impact on society, unless you are a shopkeeper. How does someone stealing some Pampers affect you?

Shops have to hire security guards which means they have to put their prices.

One of the most dystopian ideas possible. Keep the people sedated and take their money in the process.

I say go the other way, like Singapore.

Er, wouldn't making weed expensive by adding high taxation mean that people would just continue to buy it off their local dealer?

These hasn't been even remotely enough Police officers last 15-20yrs to cover all offences and information I have from someone who deals with Police employment has said they toil to fill the posts even when there are vacancies, no idea there if honest but saying that all offences should be investigated and chased up whilst admirable is also impossible atm with the local forces staff levels

Whats the answer? I simply don't know?
==========================================

At the risk of repeating myself, the solution is very simple.

We need a government that will reassess what our tax take is being spent on.

Scrap our Carbon neutral agenda , which is currently unachievable & unaffordable.

Reduce the size of the welfare state.

Refuse & put on hold any asylum claims until we have an economy that cope with the pressures and cost that these claims burden the state with.

Retrospectively ( 5yrs) remove any individuals who submitted spurious asylum applications.

Pro- activley develop attainable policy which will create growth.

Step by step begin to reduce the nations tax burden

Oh yeah and first

Stop borrowing 20bln a month 240bln a year , which 110bln + is paid in interest payments.

That alone would reset our economy, but it will require all of the above to attended to.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's all very well Ifarka and we hear this a lot. Along with the often stated "cut government waste" which usually means cutting more services or at least the quality of those services...

But why not also add the billions wasted on bailing out private companies and private contracts? The billions wasted on water companies and train operators to name a couple, and the likes of Balfour Beaty and a few French companies who are profiting billions from the HS2 debacle. Then there's the tens of billions syphoned off through corruption from the covid contracts.

And the £300+ billion tax dodging (granted only a part of it is our tax revenue) through tax avoidance and evasion every year by multinational corporations actually enabled by Britain and its overseas tax havens which cost the country far more than the usual diatribe we constantly get about benefit cheats. It's just a shame the media don't seem to stoke up public opinion about this anywhere near what they do about everything else. Probably because most them are in the pockets of these kants.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And don't forget the billions spent on military endeavours across the globe and helping Israel commit a genocide.

To be crying about things like shoplifting and claiming it's ruining society while your government spends billions to enable a genocide and the alphabet organisations interfering with the sovereignty of the rest of the world is the height of geniusness.

Councils are having to sell off assets in an effort to pay for £billions of debt thanks to the ramping up of loans since 2010 taken out because of government cuts to LA funding (go austerity) and these then invested in financial markets (often hairbrained or high risk) which then flopped (go private ventures!!) leaving black holes in already stretched finances and deteriorating public services including local policing. Capitalism stinks sometimes.

Prices go up in shops that don't hire security guards. So that is total nonsense.

In fact all my life prices have gone up. Zero to do with shoplifting.
