Accrington 1-3 Rovers
Hanlan to score ⚽

The Rovers had better not spoil our day as 58 years ago today Pauline and I were married at Christ Church, Esher. We had our reception at “The Bear” which then was a traditional hotel (my parents stayed there). We had dinner there in 2013 and it is now what I think is called a “gastropub”, and, sadly, a stuffed bear no longer welcomes you at the entrance.
As far as the game today, we had a good record against them last season, so let’s hope we avoid a banana skin. I’ll go for a very positive 1-3 to the Rovers, and the Crémant de Bourgogne in our refrigerator can celebrate two things. English fizz would be great, but very hard to find here, and it is at Champagne prices.
For first scorer, I’ll go with Ajayi, the same as Donaldo.
Having seen the starting eleven I feel a little less positive, but will leave the 1-3 intact. I’m worried a little about the middle of the back four, and the mid-field squad. Maybe Close and Sbarra will do something positive!
The video stream is not available over here on Rovers+, and Saturday’s game is before “sparrows”, so I do not think I’ll watch that either.

2-0 to Rovers. Hanlan with the first.

Congrats to Crazy for predicting the score, but from following the text coverage on the BBC, it did not seem like an impressive performance by the Rovers.
However, we can celebrate a win as well as our Anniversary!

You’re right Micky; it was pretty scrappy and for the most part we did not make the most of our large share of the possession. There was not a lot of team cohesion in possession.

Considering that Accrington only had half their first team on the pitch our “reserves” were way off the form they showed in the first round.

The introduction of the first teamers made the significant difference and Bailey showed why he probably one of the best players in L1.

I was disappointed with Ajayi and Hanlan played as poorly as he does usually. Close passed backwards and sideways for others to take the risk of the attacking ball - as usual and people will praise his performance especially after goal which was sensibly struck, unlike most of the other wild attempts. And the much vaunted Crew was hardly wanting to get involved.

Disappointing.

Congratulations Micky. I've only managed 54 to date. It's true what they say " marriage is a word not a sentence". But I guess we're both lifers.
New striker incoming I think.

The Toy boy looks an interesting addition if it's true. On the face of it he doesn't have that great a scoring record over his career. Though his last spell in the Scottish Premiership with St Mirren was pretty good. Looks a similar build to Billy Sharp. Perhaps he and GM can get the best out of him. Who knows?
