So Mourinho isn't reduced to mid-tier coaching roles because the Turkish league is actually the place to be right now, but he's at a big disadvantage playing against the second best team in the seventh best European league. And he can't be expected to compete in Turkey because he's in charge of the second best squad in the league. Is Mourinho unable to be the value adding factor? And why isn't he getting job offers from better teams?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's found his level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Quite a cushy job, based on Wahl's characterisation:
- Can't be faulted for inability to win the Turkish league because their only rival is too good.
- No danger of failing to finish second because they are one of the Big Two.
- Failing to get through the qualification rounds of the CL is no failure, because the opposition is much better.
- A prestige job in a massive league with no expectations attached.

Nobody blamed Klopp's Liverpool for finishing 2nd to Guardiola's Man City due to the difference in resources. It's the same for Mourinho now having to compete with Galatasary.

Football won’t be the same without him, you need characters like him just like you need bad guys in movies. Antagonists are just as important in a drama (which ultimately football is), more so that f-cking stats and data.

Look at Gala's team: They have Osimhen, Ederson, Icardi, Sane etc. They could compete to win the title in England or Spain or Germany. How can Mourinho compete against that with Fred and Amrabat?

So Mourinho isn't reduced to mid-tier coaching roles because the Turkish league is actually the place to be right now, but he's at a big disadvantage playing against the second best team in the seventh best European league. And he can't be expected to compete in Turkey because he's in charge of the second best squad in the league. Is Mourinho unable to be the value adding factor? And why isn't he getting job offers from better teams?

Omg, no one furrrking cares about Rangers. Btw, Fenerbahce should have won anyway but they weren't given a clear penalty in the 2nd leg but you'll leave that out I guess.

exactly ... they got out out by a nobody team as you put it managed by an interim - part timer who couldnt cut it at lower league Clyde.
Mourinho himself said that Rangers deserved to go through he actually said his team were lucky to still be in the tie in the second leg as they should have conceded far more than they should have ....... but you will leave that out I guess?
Dont know why your b1tching about someone talking about mourinho on a thread about mourinho?

cos its more relevant now given that one happned years ago and the other happened in his last campaign.
the thread is literally about him still being the king hence why I kept it to recent events....

Mourinho is doing what Pep has never done which is take over an underdog team and try to win the league. It's like Klopp choosing Liverpool and trying to beat Pep's city despite the disadvantage they were at. But Mourinho's not a loser like Klopp, so he'll actually end up doing it.

Jose’s long past it and wasn’t good enough for us but I’ll always have a soft spot for the bloke. Football won’t be the same without him, you need characters like him just like you need bad guys in movies. Antagonists are just as important in a drama (which ultimately football is), more so that f-cking stats and data.

When has Mourinho won the league when his team had a massive financial/squad disadvantage over rivals? You're praising him for moving to Fenerbahce for the challenge, like Klopp. Now you're dissing Klopp, who won titles against teams with superior financial firepower at Liverpool and Dortmund, while Mourinho hasn't got close to Galatasaray yet.

He won the Champions League with Porto and Inter who were both underdogs, he beat the greatest Barcelona team of all time with Messi, Xavi and Iniesta to La Liga and he beat Man City to the Premier League with Chelsea who had less money.
