£40m for Garnacho

It’s a good deal considering we were hamstrung in our negotiations by 1) a player who had a bad attitude and 2) a player who only wanted Chelsea. To get £40 million is actually good business by us as I thought Chelsea would hold out for £30 million

No matter how good he is, if his attitude / ego stinks it kills a club.

Your better off without him.

Good riddance

Little schit head

Hopefully he'll be winging on sm about Chelsea in 18 months time, or spend it sitting on the bench

I suspect he's moved within 3 years but probably wont be too hard to get some return vs this outlay and what his wages must be.

Its why they were so keen on him most likely

I think they were keen because Chelsea’s transfer policy is to collect as many high potential players as they can and hedge their bets on enough of them coming good. Despite Garncho’s recent form, he’s clearly among the highest potential young players in his age group in football - people act like he’s Rashford’s age with ten years of inconsistency, rather than just turning 21 having played regular football for two years.

I said this elsewhere but it feels like we have signed Nani

Seemingly high potential
Decent return
Worldie goal in him
Flatters to deceive despite the above

Isnt that Nani

Nani was way better than Nacho to be fair.

Who is a good comparison for how good you felt Nani was?

Like Malouda cerca 2010 level?

posted on 29/8/25

I don’t think they are very similar players, to he honest. Garnacho’s game has always been far more about attacking the box and getting goals, whereas Nani was a more traditional winger in a 442 that stayed wide and looked to provide for the forwards.

He’s more a young Rashford if I had to compare him to anyone at United.

Damn, that's a long time ago.
Honestly can't remember. Nani was inconsistent as heck, but was ridiculously good when he was on form, almost unplayable. It's just a shame that form lasted no longer than 1-2 years for United, and that wasn't a solid on form 1-2 years either, it was quite broken. Still one of my favourite players of the later SAF era as he was exciting to watch.
I can't even remember what sort of player Malouda was.

posted on 29/8/25

i was going for a roughly contemporary player

Malouda was like kinda average at first but he was arguably the best winger in the league in 2010 when Carlo managed us

posted on 29/8/25

it didnt last behind like 18 months though his peak playing, kinda similar to what you describe

Nani should have won the poty awards in 10/11 instead of Vidic and hype job Bale. I’ve been dying on this hill for 14 years.

a lot of the POTY awards have been off imo

Ryan Giggs was the funniest.

It should have been presented to him by Michael Aspel.

The boy has talent.

Never shown it consistently, but even if he doesn't make a spot at Chelsea his own you can bet they make their money back on him. Worth the gamble for that alone but I half expect snidey social media posts within 6 months when he's warming the bench.

Not sure it's a bargain, but it's a good deal for Chelsea, when you see what they've spent on other players.

Truth is, if he turns out to be any good he will want away again in a couple of years.

I must have imagined him constantly smashing shots in on goal from ridiculous angles and distances and wasting openings time after time.

He was class in the PL that season. Don't think he had much of an impact in the CL though.

Chelsea don't buy hidden gems, they sell them.

You know what I mean.

He wasn’t about getting in the box to score, all his best work was outside it.

Garnacho plays far more like Rashford than Nani.
